I'm always have a hard time finding a good scary novel so if any of you have any suggestions reply. Oh yeah, the novel has to be very scary and a bit realistic. thanks. (dosn't have to be fiction)

Top of my list for scary is "The Shining" by Stephen King.

For a non-fiction read, try "The Hot Zone" by Richard Preston.

Otherwise, what do you find scary and what have you already read?

Well i usually read "true ghost" stories. But i want to read a scary novel that's not to wack. Anything you find scary except homicide stories.

Check out Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons, one of my favorite books ever.

Also Clive Barker is great....try The Damnation Game, or Imajica (although Imajica won't scare the pants off you, it will amaze you)

Try "The Relic" by Lincoln Childs and Douglas Preston. Then "The Reliquary" by the same authers.

Well, it would just be too easy to mention any of the many great Stephen King books, so I'll say "Ghost Story" by Peter Straub. If you've seen the movie, this is a hundred times better.

Bentley Little has some great horror novels. His latest is "The Policy". Also really good is "The Association" and "The Store"

I thought The Woman in Black by Susan Hill was a good ghost story. Very atmospheric.

I was checking my e-mail today and the Book & Reader forum sent me an e-mail. At first I thought it was spam, but I clicked it and turns out that I wrote a few threads a while back. Brought back a lot of memories (I was then 14 ish). Glad to see that my posts are still being responded to :)

I don't usually read horror books, but three that are outstanding are. The Devil Rides Our. By Dennis Wheatley, and, To The Devil A Daughter, also by him.
And another that must be read is the original Dracula by Bram Stoker.
