Travolta

I know there must be Travolta fans out there . . .

Is he just a Baldwin with new-improved curiosity, now in Scientology flavor?

Is he Tom Hanks with a lobotomy?

Is he an overambitious zipperhead who thinks cleanliness is next to godliness?

Is he Ed Burns with more flesh, wrapped in designer clothing?

Or is he a decent actor?

Can any remember Welcome Back Kotter?

What's his best movie?

Obviously, I just don't get Travolta.

He is a pudgy-faced, piggy eyed, smirking person who cannot act.

Neither do I. The man has no appeal for me, either as an actor or someone to fancy. I have never understood why people swoon over him, even when he was in his "heyday" of Grease and Saturday Night Fever. Completely over-rated.

I liked him in Pulp Fiction. But maybe it was the film I liked and not really Travolta so much.

I do remember Welcome Back, Kotter. Didn't much like his character of Vinny. Come to think of it, haven't most of his subsequent roles been just variations of Vinny? Swaggering, smart-ass, too cool, dumber than he thinks macho?

He's a one note pony. Has perfected the above, but I don't think he's got much range.

Yes, you are right! Vinny goes disco, Vinny goes Hollywood, Vinny is a villian! But underneath it all, he's just a big lunk who has a grudging respect for Mista Kotta.

Pulp Fiction was so friggin' awesome I don't care if it was Travolta or Tarrentino or the whole movie put together, I'll cut Travolta some slack just for that one particular movie...but I would recommend that he stop showing up on Oprah so much. He's really proliferating the complete doofus mystique by schmoozing all over her and her audience.

...give that man a Royale with Cheeze....

But, wait! What about the movie "Michael"? That was a great movie. (Not as good as "Raising Arizona", but pretty damn funny!)

I don't like Travolta either, I think he's like Tom Cruise-he plays the same character in every movie, just with different clothes. What really turned me off in "Broken Arrow" (okay, okay, I'm guilty of watching one of his movies) was how he smoked a cigarette-it's soooo obvious he doesn't smoke. I mean, it was if he never saw anyone smoke before.

I think that after his comeback in "Pulp Fiction" he believed his own press and thought he can't do anything wrong. I think that's Cruise's problem too-he seems to believe he's a superstar. I'm just glad that the Oscar voters appear to recognize this, neither of these guys deserved to win an Oscar.

Creeps me out.

John travolta is just one of those few people who merely the sight of them makes my skin crawl - I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one though.

He is so slimy & his eyes always seem so devoid of emotion, which I think is the main thing which makes me dislike him.

The only thing I can say even slightly in his favour is that he's made the argument about if it's right to be constantly exposing our children to such a myriad of chemicals everyday via the household products we use more mainstream. (Which I have yet to probably make an opinion over) Of course, with him being so schmoozing & overstating the problem (me thinks it's just a guilt thing after his kid getting ill) he kind of sets the cause back & makes people turn off.
