Ebooks - Have your say...

I came across a competition on the ebooks-uk website, which invites budding (unpublished) authors to submit their work, win £1000 and get their work published in ebook format. Now, as I understand ebooks are the second coming and the future of publishing, given that they are the green alternative (no paper / transport required, can store a zillion ebooks in one little handheld, cheap cheap cheap blah-de-blah) but how many people do you know have actually downloaded one, or even have the dinky little hand held computer to download it onto, that makes the ebook worthwhile...?

I have never read an e-book, and i dont intend to. A book is a book "printed sheets of paper fastened between covers". I dont ever see this format being replaced........... how do you get comfy with an e-book?

E-books are not the future, and i doubt they ever will be. They could be useful for out-of-print works, but i can think of no other real use for them. Unless of course, i have got it wrong and many people do actually enjoy, maybe even prefer, reading books on-line?
