Character name needed :-)

We are currently on the lookout for a name for our soon-to-come new cat.
Somehow we'd like to leave the beaten path of "normal" cats names behind us and thought maybe there's a nice character name from a fantasy (or sci-fi?) novel. Maybe you guys have some neat suggestions?
[Disclaimer: Lord of the Rings is out of bounds for obvious reasons ;)]

So please: propose away...

I'm writing my own book, and the name of my main character is Raiyfe N'Tiatte. Maybe it'll suit your kitty too... :)

I can't name my pets until I see them, but here's some ideas where we have found names for our pets over the years:

Favorite Bands/Singers/Song Titles
Planets/Stars
Cartoon characters/TV characters/actors
People in History
Names from Mythology
my son is currently naming pets after Harry Potter characters

Our current name list is: Speedy,Kitten,Carrie,Milo,Dobbie(cats), Ginger(dog),Weasley(turtle). Hope you enjoy your new kitty. Let us know what you decide to name him/her! :D

Well, Harry Potter is out for the same obvious reason that LotR is out ;)

I'm certain there must be short callnames that are suitable for a cat.
Sadly I'm coming no further than "Nighteyes" (the wolf from the Farseer trilogy)

It's not from a novel, but I believe Fox Mulder from The X Files had a cat called Spooky. Other than that, I like Tartan Skirt's suggestion of Mogget. :)

Hmmm ok ignore Psion, it's not the name of a cat :p It's the name of a book where the main character is called Cat

Ratha was the only one a search brought up

There's a cat called Greebo in Pratchett's Discworld series, though if your SO reads up on him, she might not like that name either. :)

It's a cat, right? How about HissOfDeath? ScratchYourEyes? You could be creative and meld them together and probably get Scrayoeiz? Hisodeath?

What about some of the names from the Aristocats? Not sci-fi, I know, but some of them are French and so seem exotic in a certain way. I'm a big fan of Toulouse and Berlioz, myself.

See here for other characters (but make sure your volume is down if you're at work as there's a tune in the background of the page).
