Hello

I dont read as often as i should, as you can most likely tell by my poor grammar. I recently gotten into it heavly but so far i only like authers like Chris Moore and Dougles Adams. To get down to it im looking for a particular type of read...Something like Sinbad, with epic sea battles with the odd sea monster. Pirates, ocean sailing, remote uncharted islands, seamonsters, the works...Kinda like the Pirates of Dark Waters cartoon if anyone remembers that...So any advice heh? :)

heh thanks. I will look into that one, i have heard some good things about it(just hard to find it un abridged, my library is about the size of a small classroom maybe 500 books). Anything a bit more current heh :)

You could try The Sweet Trade By Elizabeth Garret. It's a novel about Anne Bonny and Mary Read, the worlds only female pirates.

There is also a young adult fiction called "Pirates!" by Celia Reese which is a stunning, fast paced and exciting read. It'll keep you on the edge of your seat.

i just read "A Secret Atlas" by Michael A. Stackpole, a brand new Fantasy Novel about a voyage taken by map-makers to chart unknown waters. There is magic, monsters and adventure aplenty.

The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists by Gideon Defoe.

See thread by Litany in this Section

Agreed. Great book.

hah atleast im not alone in that.... I was thinking about it has anyone read Flight of dragons by Peter Dickinson? i want to read it but it is a hard to find book.

There's also The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi, where a girl passenger joins the mutinous crew of a ship against the evil captain. I loved this book as a teenager and I still love it! It's very exciting.

Try the Death Gate Cycle. I think that there is seven books in all, although they may be difficult to come by, I'm still trying to get a copy of the first one

The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists, has all the pirates and adventure you could ever hope for. It's also full of ham.

Treasure Island has the pirates, though not the sea monsters. The 13 1/2 lives of Captain Bluebear might suit your needs. Don't be put off by the fact it looks like a kiddy book. It's very entertaining. Imagine The Odyssey as experienced by a blue bear.

Jules Verne might satisfy your need for uncharted lands. And Captain Blood is a traditional swashbuckly tale of gentleman turned pirate. Maybe if you read them both at the same time they would merge in your head to create the perfect book.

You might also like The Princess Bride, but I preferred the book to the film. No doubt that makes me a heretic.
