Is Motokid an annoying ass?

Motokid

New Member
Based on the tone the last few days in some threads, and the post of one of the newest members, and a few posts by come and go members I figured now was the perfect time for this question.

I'm giving you the opportunity, and full license to tell me what you wish. Put in smiles or not. Be sarcastic or not. Be honest or joke. Post as you see fit.

Tell me to go read for a while and come back another day. Tell me to stop creating threads in the general chat area. Tell me to go to hell in a hand basket. Tell me off. Tell me to shut up. Tell me to keep it up. Tell me to go away.

Get it all off you chest as it pertains to Motokid being a member of this forum.

I give you permission to let Motokid know how you feel about Motokid.

Maybe you'll bring out a better, improved Motokid. Maybe not. But at least you can feel better knowing you've spoken your mind, and I have listened to what you've said without getting angry, or irate, or pissed off. After all, I've aksed for what you have to say. I can't really get angry because I asked for it, and expect it.
Right?

Explore your thoughts about Motokid and voice those thoughts. It might be an enlightening trip for all of us.

No poll. I prefer things be a bit more personal than something as cold, and as simple as a poll. That leaves out the imagination and creativity from the person responding, and confines them to a specific response. Doesn't it?

How wrong you are. You'd get an overall view of what people thought of you, and then people could add comments. Perfect. This way, a lot of people who think you're a pain will be too scared to pop in and say anything. It doesn't matter if you think they shouldn't be, they will be. You'd get more people voting in a poll, rather than just a few people dropping in here to massage your ego. We love you Moto, we do...

Not that I really care either way, but you do at least seem reasonably intelligent, and what with all the total morons on the internet these days (where did they all come from, wasnt like this when I was a lad!) - that is your saving grace :)

Phil

I think if someone thinks I'm an ass they'll tell me so. For the most part this forum is completely annonymous. I have no idea who Freya is unless you tell me who you are. You are free to have any opinion of anybody.

I've already been called a horses ass by a guy/girl who just signed up on May 1st I believe.

I don't think anybody here is scared of me, and they shouldn't be.

edit: oops, he joined April 1st, but has only posted 3 times and once was to call me a horses ass. Just setting things straight...

I don't know about the annoying part...perhaps ass IS too strong a word. Hmmm...It does seem you write a bunch of topics that most folks wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole--but once there there, well you just can't resist.

*shrug

Its kinda like anything else on the Internet, you don't HAVE to read ALL the posts. On the flip side, however, neither do you have to post everything that jumps into your head. ;)

Moto is the kid who brings a bag of toys to the park and passes them out. Sometimes there's a gun in there too. Sometimes it's loaded.

When reading Moto's post, one must always assume that he does not really believe many of the things he's saying. Having passed the gun around, he's just holding up the target. Sometimes he holds it right in front of his head. He thinks it's fun, though, so go ahead and shoot.

"You didnt get offended by that post did you?"

I have yet to be offended by anything I've read in this entire forum.
My skin is thick, and so might my head be too. But as I'm asking for whatever gets posted I'm sure I won't be offended by anything I read here. Others might be, but I probably won't.

novella, as always...you're good...

I hate to admit it but this got a chuckle. :D Good description.

Sometimes I wonder why you post on this forum, Moto. I have never seen a book post from you. A snide, cynical little section of my brain wonders if you post here just so that you can keep the link to your own book in your signature. While that may or may not be true, some of what you say is certainly not good promotion for a childrens book, so I prefer to think that maybe you came here initially for that reason and stayed because you enjoy the intellectual conversation.

I enjoy a lot of your threads. They make me think, and while sometimes I vehemently disagree with you, and I find your arguments go around in circles, I also learn an awful lot from other people; Novella's always got facts up her sleeve about this or that (I am in awe of your mind, lady), while there's always a different perspective from people in different places. While these things may be off topic and some may question their place on a 'book' forum, it remains that the people posting and writing are readers. Which means we have a common background. Generally, posters are not random internet geeks who like to cause trouble for the sake of it and cruise the virtual world looking to pick up. Remember that people can see who starts a thread, and if they don't like your threads they can choose not to read them. I don't think you're prolific enough in your posts for them to really view them as spam. If they want to discuss books exclusively... well, that's their perogative and they can stick to the forums in the top half of the Forum page. Why go bashing you for posting something in the General section, obeying the rules and having some fun that most people join in in good fun?

Sometimes I think you come off as a little abrasive - playing devils advocate all the time can get a little wearing, as one can never be sure what your REAL opinion on issues is. And just because you don't get offended there's no reason to keep on telling us you don't - we know!

You've a very thick skin which is something to be proud of, but sometimes I think that you don't listen very well to what other people are saying. I'm not sure I recall you ever saying to someone on your 'issue' threads - 'hey, that's a good point'. It feels like I'm talking to a brick wall sometimes. You may be very stoic in your stance on an issue, but unlike certain presidents, there's nothing wrong with saying 'hey, I was wrong. You made a good point and I'm changing my stance'. I think you need to open your mind up to other possibilities other than the one you believe in already when you post a thread. What's the point in discussing something if you're not open to alternatives?

Finally, let me say that you're one of the few people on here that I would post something like this to. As novella once said, I come across as 'overly appologetic'. This is more to do with the fact that I don't feel I really know anyone here, and saying things in tones that are sarcastic or could be viewed as affrontary opens the door to misinterpretation. I am a big reader of body language and without that I feel it's important to say any criticism constructively or don't say it at all. The last thing I want is to offend anyone. I managed to inadvertantly do that for the first time last month and it didn't feel very good at all. So Moto, feel blessed that I am telling you these things. It means that enough of your personality has been conveyed that I am convinced your skin is thick enough to take it.

Now that, you can't get from a poll. Thanks Kook.

As always, you make a very good, and very clear statement.

hey moto! i know i wasn't much around in the last few weeks, but if you ask for an opinion, you get it!
you are intellegent and i think you want that everybody knows it, you like to piss people off, and you like to touch topics which are rather unusual... with that you jump on other peoples toes, but you don't care, because you have a thick skin and you don't really care what other people think of you and in your opinion everybody should think this way!
You are always there for a good argument or if you want to call it that "a fight", you like to hear other peoples opinions but in the end you don't give a shit! (good for you)

well spank my ass, i've nothing left after honey, kook and novella, the girls said it all.

i think you are a riot.

Moto,

I'm not (really, honestly, no, I'm not kidding) a debater, so I admit, there are some of your threads I (gasp!) skip. However, I think the subjects allow for more expansive responses than a Top 5 List or a link to the latest cyberquiz or who's got the top score on the latest video game. Your threads give people a chance to get a "feel" for who someone is and what they believe, and I think that's important. In reading some of them, I've been surprised on occasion by who I find myself agreeing with or who I find myself disagreeing with. In some cases, it's allowed me to seem other members in a different light.

As to the comment about not posting in the book discussions, I don't really consider that a criteria for posting in general discussion. The conversation in those forums is of a different tone and serves a different purpose. Much of it is informational (Do you know the name of...., Who said...., Who wrote...). Once the answer has been provided there's not much more to say. For some of us, once we've made our contribution to the various lists of favorite/least favorite books and authors, we don't feel there's more to be gained, unless we are seeking specific information on a specific book or author. But general discussions among people who are literate and literary-minded can be lively, interesting, and entertaining.

So more power to you, Mr. Moto.

I have come back from the Forum Cemetery to answer this very interesting question.

Motokid - Not only are you an annoying ass, but you are also a childish troublemaker with some obvious personal issues. Quite honestly, I feel sorry for you.

You asked, I answered. No need to refute my reply. I'm going back to my grave now. Goodbye.
