Does anyone like C.S. Lewis? If so what is your favorite book(s) from him?

Mine are:
The Chronicles of Narnia
Mer Christianity
Space Trilogy (great books)
The Screwtape Letters

and many others.

I read C S Lewis back in the day! Whew, like 18 years ago or so. I liked (like) The Chronicles of Narnia.

Have you read Medeleine L'Engle? A Wrinkle in Time and A Swiftly Tilting Planet.

Oh how many more books have I read that I've forgot!?

Oh yes I read Madeleine L'Engle! I love her work just as much.

Yeah I forget all that I read too.

I don't forget all that I read. I didn't mean that. I mean that I have totally forgotten that I read these because it was A. 18 years ago and B. I've read 1000s of books since!

I like blasts from the past!

Oh sorry lol... ^^

I love Chronicles of Narnia. I read it a loooooooong time ago and keep on meaning to re-buy it to read it again. Never read anything else buy him but always consider the screwtape letters.

I'm probably gonna do the same with Narnia as I did with Rings - read it before I go see the film.

Cheers

Wow! Thanks!

BTW the book is well worth your time. There have also been several good reprints of the series lately.

I take it you didn't know about the film? It's supposedly set to be the next LotR. It has the same sfx-team behind it.

Shit, wrong forum, I'll create a thread in the filmforum.

Cheers

I love the Narnia series. It's been a while since I've read it though. The first one I read was the Silver Chair. Then I went back and read the others. I also liked A Wrinkle in Time. That was a good book.

I loved Narnia! (correction, I love Narnia!!!!) The only other one I've read by C.S.Lewis is Perelandra. I must reread it because it went mostly in one ear and out the other. I started reading That Hideous Strength at a friend's place, but when I asked to borrow it, they couldn't find it! and I haven't seen any others in the library. I should make a point for looking for them...

I love C.S. Lewis. I enjoy reading the Chronicles of Narnia both for the story and also for the Christian imagery and symbolism in it. It is written in a manner so that children can easily understand it, yet it still holds interest for adults. I am so excited to hear that a film is in the works! I used to watch the old Wonderworks version when I was young. Apart from Narnia, I'm also a big fan of The Screwtape Letters.

I love Till We Have Faces by Lewis. True, it is quite different from most of his work, but it has a poignancy and beauty all its own.
A little known series by L'Engle is The Crosswicks Journal, beginning with A Circle of Quiet. It is a wonderful read.

I just started reading the Chronicles of Narnia to my son (7), he loves them and I had forgotten how much I liked them. We just started the 2nd one and will probably finish it before spring break is over since the weather is so bad.

I just read Till We Have Faces, and loved it. :)

If you liked The Screwtape Letters, I think you'll like The Great Divorce - full of wisdom but also very atmospheric.

I'm considering "The Screwtape Letters" as my next book once I'm done with "The Simpsons and Philosophy". Can somebody fill me in on a few more details of this book? There's not much discussion of it that I can find. Anybody care to enlighten me on the book and what you thought of it?
