Since the horror thread, now I'm really bothered that I can't remember the name of this darn book.
It was about a ghost named Helen that was trying to lure a little girl into a pond to kill her, like the ghosts in "The Shining" that wanted Danny to come play with them. The story was told from the perspective of the older sister to the alive prey of the ghost. I think the family had just moved to the country, maybe it was a blended family and the little girl was actually her step sister (not sure on that) and she kind of resented the kid the way older siblings do, until she found out about the ghost going after her. In that way, it was remniscent of "Labyrinth" I guess, like "ooh I hate you so much you twit. . . Wait, now I need to protect you!"
The whole thing had the tone of the older sister being like "Can't you freakin adults tell this place is evil?" and no one ever believing her. I still can't remember what happened to the little sister either.
TIA for anyone who can give me the title of this story!
