Nominations - July Book Discussion

Starting this thread for a book discussion in July :D

Lets keep nominations to either fantasy or sci-fi :) And the book with the most nominations wins.
 
Hmm.. I will put my thinking cap on! Just a small suggestion - can you make the thread title say "Nominations - July Sci Fi/Fantasy Book Discussion"? Or something along those lines? (I think you need to ask a mod to change a thread title). The reason is because when I read posts I mostly read them from the 'new posts' section where I don't really notice the section it is placed in. Currently, this thread title looks very similar to the regular forum discussion. This might attract more interest in people specifically looking for sci fi / fantasy books to discuss.

Just a suggestion...
 
Oh, sorry, saw that there was already a thread for Magician. I'll think of something else, and I'll post my Magician thoughts there.

Looks quite a good choice, just read a few reviews and they all raved about it
 
How about revisiting an old friend/enemy in the form of one of David Eddings books?

Be bound to split opinion, to be honest, since there are those who love and those who hate him. And I'd love an excuse to re-read some of his classic series.

How about kicking off with The Diamond Throne, and the much-maligned Sparhawk?
 
Babel 17 by Samuel Delany. One of my favourite sci-fi books and plenty to talk about (but still nice and short).
