  • Will, I've just posted on the thread regarding The Passage...I loved it. Can't wait for the next one. Cronin certainly knows how to write great characters.
I've added Dead Snow to my Amazon wishlist...no way I can resist an Evil Dead/Shaun of the Dead hybrid. :)
I enjoyed the US remake of Dark Water too. And Shutter is a very scary film. I'm glad films like this are so readily available now. I know my Amazon wishlist is VERY long.

Another film I just got and that I still need to watch is Thirst...yet another twist on the vampire story.
I LOVE Japanese horror films. It's hard to describe, but I like their sensibility...they are very different from American films. Audition is an all-time favorite...I just watched it again a few months ago. The Ring, The Grunge, Dark Water...all great! I also enjoy Korean films, including the Vengeance trilogy, especially Oldboy. And I really want to see Mother by Bong Joon-Ho.
Thanks Will! You can make thread yourself also at the short Stories section.:)

I have only found one Munro online,if you have any idea let me know.:)
Found them! Will start reading them tonight.:)

M R James: (again anything by him but especially) 'Oh, Whistle and I'll Come to You, My Lad', The Mezzotint, Number 13, The Haunted Dolls' House, Casting the Runes.
Will,I will be definitely looking into all those, especially the short stories,I have read some of Lovecraft. They are posted on the Short Story section of the forum.Add any if you want there.

    Thanks for taking the time!
Hi there, I much preferred PSS to King rat. I also posted about this on the 'Litany's genre swap' thread as it was my suggested genre book. I'm investigating the steampunk genre and have read a few books so far. I'm planning on reading all of Mieville's work. I think if you enjoy horror and sci-fi etc. you'll really like Mieville. Read King rat first and then Perdido street station as I think his writing improves with the second one. :)
No Stephanie Meyer huh ;-) Okay. I want to ask what have you read as I could end up recommending a whole slew of titles that you've already ploughed through. I say that as for newcomers to the horror genre I'd start with King et. al. working through a mix of the classics and contemporary stuff. So let me know if you want a more indepth recommendation.

If you want what I consider a strong novel (or two) off the bat, this year I read Justin Cronin's The Passage which I really enjoyed. Adam Nevill's Apartment 16 was also quite scary and I think he's one to watch in the future. I really liked Nevill's book as I found it a melting pot of a few different authors and styles that came together in a really unique way. Scary and contemporary.

I've a horror (and related) books review site if you want to check out a few more ideas Spooky Reads of books I've read.
I see you like horror,I am trying to find something really good.Any suggestions, and no I don't like Stephanie Meyer.
