i've read The Chrysalids twice- it's excellent. Day of the Triffids is one of my favorites. i also liked 2001: A Space Odyssey, but I enjoyed the Wyndham books more.
Thanks, Ell, I didn't realize it was less of a novel than short stories. ah well, I'm sure I'll enjoy it anyway. i'll get it...
my favorite is Immacolata, from Barker's Weaveworld. she's strong, arrogant, brutal and evil. in the novel she is broken, but then she remembers herself and comes back in a fantastically hideous manner.
i can't deal with that show. big paul is such a blowhard. mikey seems nice but he whines a bit too much.
everyone here wears OCC stuff- it's getting pretty tired. tho i would probably think it was ok if i liked the show more. it's like the male version of a soap opera
you ever notice the...
LOL the illustrated man made me want more! JK
i have just one tattoo that i got about 13 years ago, it's on the small of my back on the left. it's a daisy and the stem is in the shape of a "J". daisies were my favorite flowers for awhile, they're still in my top 5. J is (obv) the first letter...
Krys, i can't believe you said Shmoo and Ginormous. i use schmoo all the time and only yesterday i noticed the word ginormous in an article and now i know i'm gonna use it.
anyway, my neice used to call my grandma her "great mother" when she was 3 or 4. i dont know how it came about, but...
for me, it's Isaac Asimov. i've always wanted to read his books but they either aren't carried at the little shop i used to buy from, or i saw another i wanted more. i will get around to reading I, Robot by the end of this year. LOL
i had about 12 in my pile, which is a lot for me so i haven't bought anymore lately. i currently have the pile down to about 4, i think. i used to go buy a book when i'd finished the one i'd been reading, but since i've started buying them online (cheaper), so the pile stays at around 6 or so on...
thrift stores here are the same- picked clean daily. those are fine boots, nice score for you- lucky.
it's friday, so i'm wearing jeans, black boots, a deep V navy tunic with a white T underneath.
i have always bought cheap tortoise shell frame sunglasses- except once, a few years ago, when i gave in and bought a pair of black CK's on sale. they were stolen from me at the bridal shower i threw for my sister. needless to say, i'm back to cheap tortoise shell frames (the ones i have now are...
Rustam, i read that a couple years ago. i enjoyed it a lot- Barker is fantastic.
i just finished One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. it was pretty absorbing and somewhat of an eye opener. i think it was something of a tribute to the human spirit and ability to...
the last movie i saw was Elektra, on saturday night. i like comic movies so i wanted to see this even though i heard it wasn't very good. it wasn't great, there were a few corny scenes, but it was worth the $5 it cost in the cheap theatre to see it.
for the record, Napolean's dance scene in...
i've been watching the show since day 1 and i love it. i believe the reason we've seen so many episodes focusing on the character's pasts is because the writers are trying to establish that the passengers did not just crash on the island- they were sent there. there is something special about...
haha- we have the Chappelle show on DVD! he's one crazy mofo (there's one another for you)
i use sick all the time. it confuses the hell outta anyone older than 35. it's one of my current favorites. lol
i love snoop, but "izzle" drives me nuts. too easy to use, you can throw it onto almost...
i dunno if these are common or not, but my mum in law has never heard of them:
S.O.L. = shit outta luck (they didnt have her shoe size so she was SOL)
up shit creek = in trouble or in a bad situation you can't get out off
my hubby is always fuming about the neighbourhood cats that walk across our cars. we have lowriders and the paint jobs are fantastic, so paw prints or claw scratches infuriate him. he freaks right out
