well, i know where that comes from- i see it everywhere. it's so hard to find that one person you can trust and be happy with. damn near impossible nowadays. for the record, i don't think anyone needs to be married in order to be happy or have that lifelong commitment.
i'm not sure what sacrifice you mean. men could marry, work and have mistresses on the side if they pleased. women stayed at home and had children. there were a lot of societal games that were played, and women were either the booty or the castoffs.
well, i do see where you guys come from. some people are just not into marriage. i've seen it work and i've seen it not work. my husband's grandparents were married for 71 years and his parents have been married almost 40. my parents lasted only 12 years together.
the idea behind marriage...
the first part of your response rings basically true. but the second part- not so much. well, for me anyway. it's not a need, it's a want. if you want to be married, you go through the ceremony.
this leaves me curious, Carlos. did you consider yourself married (in your common law...
it's the fact that after you marry, you AREN'T SUPPOSED to walk away. you made the pledge, did the whole shebang. there's supposed to be some importance attached to the act that means you don't walk away. i'm sure a lot of common law couples feel they aren't supposed to walk away either, they're...
either way sounds like a load of crap. a home is a home. i wouldn't be any happier if the govt decided to throw me off so that a social services building could be put up. there's plenty of room elsewhere.
maybe there ought to be rules about how long a person has resided. if someone's been in their home for more than 10 years they should be allowed to stay and the govt can't take their property.
my brother and i were talking about this the day the kid was found. i was incredulous. i have to be honest- the kid is 11, i was wondering where his common sense was. well, maybe he was in shock or something. his parents must have REALLY drilled it into him not to talk to strangers.
i want to address the whole "bridezilla" thing for a minute. first off, i don't think you HAVE to have a huge affair, but i think a lot of people have missed the point in why some couples do have a big fancy bash. a marriage is a special thing- many people like to celebrate it with a special...
yes, Vancouver actually has a large variety of ethnic restaurants. there's a great little greek dive in my town called Alpha's. souvlaki to die for!
the thing that makes Bincho's special is the location. there are some great mexican restaurants around here, but the view of the beach makes me...
i agree with Novella's assessment of marriage. it's exactly the reason i married my husband (Matt). i wanted to declare publicly to Matt that i want to spend my life with him. to me, common law marriage seems like you have a foot in the door, and that wasn't good enough for us.
the problem...
a Mexican place called Bincho's. it's on the strip in a town called White Rock, which is the next town over from where i live. the strip is a road loaded with small, eclectic shops and cafe's running along the beach, and so Bincho's looks out over the ocean.
it's decor is very authentic...
a 4x4 SUV. we need one to tow the boat and be able to throw the mini bike into so we can do some camping this summer.
admittedly, with gas prices this high it's not such a great idea, but we'd only drive it when going on a trip anyway (we have a Honda for daily use)
what about you...
i feel rain coming on in my elbows and shoulders. i have a hard time in winter, i'm sure it's not my imagination. maybe it has something to do with the amount of moisture in the air
not me, i like trailers. i do get irritated when they give everything away, but it doesn't make me want to see the movie any less. i have often not wanted to see a movie and then found the trailer piqued my interest.
what i DO HATE is TV commercials running in the theatre before the previews...
i'd miss the mountains and the ocean. i'd also miss peanut butter and coffee. the big thing would be the space. i'd miss the size of the houses and streets
i got 275 wpm and 91% comprehension. i was eating my lunch at the time though, so a bit distracted. like cajunmama, i also think my read speed increases when i'm reading a really good book
quite possibly. but i think you would have to avoid huffing it. i am not sure if bleach is the second ingredient though. it might be something less harsh
