I had a Timex Sinclair. I can remember my brother and I typing programs that we'd found in the manual or a book of programs and never bothering to save them on tape because we couldn't figure that part out. I can't remember if any of them ever actually worked.
I had The Hobbit on the C64...
I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping. I try to keep myself on a fairly consistent schedule, waking up at 4:30 on weekdays (due to work) and 6:30-ish on weekends and make sure that I get around eight hours of sleep at most. I avoid caffeine in the afternoon and try to "wind down" about an...
Rarely = tonight. We had some nice thunder this evening. Didn't see any lightning, but we had about a dozen occurrences of loud thunder. Also, the most intense rain I think I've ever seen in my life.
Pacific Vortex! by Clive Cussler
My first taste of Clive Cussler. For some reason, it reminded me of the Hardy Boys mysteries that I used to read as a kid.
We very rarely get thunderstorms. I went to Montana recently and had some good thunderstorms a couple of nights but they weren't intense enough to get up and go watch.
This is a pet peeve, though it's also a good thing...
When I'm reading and I start falling asleep. It happens to me at different times of the day and I just have to get up and walk around for a while before I can read again. It's especially annoying first thing in the morning. I just woke...
I used to have nothing, and an optical mouse. My wife can't stand to use the optical mouse directly on the desktop, so now we have a stiff piece of something like what they make beer mats out of. I used to have a plain black mousepad before I got the optical.
That might have been "Dirt Bike". At least I think that's what it was called. My brother and I used to play that one quite a bit. It was a side-scrolling game with one player above the other. There were lots of jumps, etc. and a truck that said "Mr. Chips" on the side.
Does that sound right?
Pacific Vortex! by Clive Cussler
It's one o' them Dirk Pitt adventures that were mentioned recently in another thread. Thought I'd give it a shot. And since I'm just zipping through it, I'll go ahead and mention my next read...
Contest by Matthew Reilly. I believe he was mentioned in...
I've been using Mozilla for my e-mail client and browser for probably two years now. It was a pain at first because I had to keep downloading the plugins, but I haven't had to do that for a while. I really like the tabbed browsing and the skins.
I like that it loads in the background, so...
I have the Canon PowerShot A70 (3.2 Megapixel). It's a really nice camera with optical zoom, though it has a lot of menus and settings that might be confusing to some. Other than the menus and an owners manual that's the size of a small novel, it's fairly easy to use.
I got the Canon to...
Glad to hear you're having fun in college. Enjoy it!
I had a good time in college and it was over way too soon. Should've gone for my master's or something.
Reminds me, I have some chocolate chip cookie dough in the freezer. I should have made it with pasteurized egg product so I could eat it raw with less chance of gastronomical distress.
Wasp Factory by Iain Banks.
It was a pretty good read. Maybe a little gruesome, though that doesn't normally bother me. I felt like I could actually see what was going on. I thought I saw the ending coming, but I was wrong.
Star of the Sea by Joseph O'Connor
About 1/3 of the way through it and it's pretty good so far. Heard others talking about it and figured I'd jump on the bandwagon.
Do you pee on your leg no matter where the jellyfish stings you?
I've read that if you're in arctic conditions and get your hand stuck to a metal object, you can pee on your hand to release it. But if you get both hands stuck, then someone else will have to pee on them for you, or at least...
