    Soup

Yummers! I used to live on ramen when I was in my late teens. I used to cut way back on the water so that there wouldn't be so much broth and it'd be really salty and flavorful. Not that it isn't salty enough as it is. Probably why I have borderline high blood pressure now.

How much books do you read per year?

I probably read about 20 - 25 books in the years that I read a lot. I go in spurts, and in some years I hardly read anything at all.

    stroke of luck

My library has a rack like that too. I haven't purchased any of the books there, but it appears they have a decent selection. Paperbacks are 50¢ to $1.00, and I think hardcover books are $1.50. But they're mostly paperbacks. These looked like they'd been donated by patrons of the library and...

    its this really a fetish?

I remember seeing a webcam that had someone (possibly a woman) in an anime-looking bodysuit with head. That's just too bizarre.

    Which magazines do you read?

Think I'm going to let my New Yorker run out and subscribe to Popular Science, Discover, Scientific American, or something.

    Can someone tell me....

If money's really tight, you might want to patronize your local library. Sure, the waiting list may be long for new books, but think of the money you'll save! :D

    Currently Reading

Working on The Drifters by Michener. So far, it's interesting. It appears that for the first six chapters, he's giving a little background on each of the characters. Then the real story will begin, I think. I wanted to read something by Michener, but didn't want to start of with anything...

    Check it!

Yeah! It's amazing what can result when you throw together some grape stems, various corks, old keys, and bear skin rugs. Who says wars can't be festive?

    Check it!

This is pretty hilarious. While you're there, check out "Kaboom" and "Fireworks". :D

    Anatomy of a book

Some used and library books have the best smells. It's almost like smelling cheese, cigars, and wine. New books never have that mellow, aged aroma.

    Internet addiction

I'd have to say that I'm a net addict. Whenever I'm not near my computer for extended periods of time (more than ten minutes), I start thinking of things and wishing that my computer were near so that I could look them up on the 'net. I recently went without access to a computer for about a...

    Anatomy of a book

Speaking of smells... A friend of mine, who recently quit smoking, lent me a book that smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke that I could hardly stand to open it at first. But once I'd had it for a couple of weeks, the smell mellowed and it was actually kind of nice. Plus the pages weren't...

    Sea monster

OMG! Did you see it too?! Last I saw, it was spinning into a vortex at tremendous speed.

Sorry to see you go, Martin. Take care.

    Anatomy of a book

What I like about books is that you can get them for free from the library. If you find that you don't like the book, you don't feel guilty about taking it back unfinished since there was no money spent. I also like the book smells, and books with smooth cold pages rather than warm "textury"...

japan's reality tv, a little to far

A man was killed by a falling boulder yesterday during an "adventure challenge" in Washington. They referred to it as a reality TV show on the news tonight.

japan's reality tv, a little to far

Ehh... I got burned out on that show shortly after they aired the episode with Bobby Flay against Morimoto on Food Network. Bobby Flay is such an ass, and he made a total ass of himself on the show. Food Network should have just left Iron Chef the way it was without trying to squeeze there...
