Yes, I can see what you're saying, Pontalba. The interaction was interesting. A bit, perhaps, like listening to what people sometimes consider to be 'depressing' music: it can be uplifting.
Earth Abides is on my list.
Coffee rules. 4 cups in the morning out of my filter plunger thingy that I can't pronounce or spell the proper word for. Tesco (UK answer to TOPPS) has a really cheap French coffee that's really nice.
I'm not going to finish this book. I think it's boring, and just an excuse for Eco to show off. There's an interesting story in there somewhere, but I can't be doing with all the intellectual babbling between the characters.
I had enough of Eco at college anyway.
The Secret History is a good book, I think so, anyway. however, The Little Friend i couldn't finish as I thought it was boring. Too drawn out - nothing seemed to happen.
Smash Hits is no more. I used to love this magazine. I used to cut out the lyrics to the songs and put the free posters up. But then, I never did get out that much. Apparently, kids these days want info and gossip on their phones and computers.

Some of those books are enought to put kids off reading for life.
I was made to read Kes, Narnia and the Bible, and that almost did it for me. Love them now though. Well, Kes and Narnia at least....
