Smash Hits! The end! (UK music mag)

    Nevil Shute: On The Beach

Alas, Babylon is excellent. Read it if you're into that kind of thing. Yes, I can see what you're saying, Pontalba. The interaction was interesting. A bit, perhaps, like listening to what people sometimes consider to be 'depressing' music: it can be uplifting. Earth Abides is on my list.

    Any coffee drinkers?

Coffee rules. 4 cups in the morning out of my filter plunger thingy that I can't pronounce or spell the proper word for. Tesco (UK answer to TOPPS) has a really cheap French coffee that's really nice.

I was hoping to say that this site was rubbish. However, it says that I am the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. So I'll go with that.

    Umberto Eco: Foucault's Pendulum

I'm not going to finish this book. I think it's boring, and just an excuse for Eco to show off. There's an interesting story in there somewhere, but I can't be doing with all the intellectual babbling between the characters. I had enough of Eco at college anyway.

    Donna Tartt: The Little Friend

The Secret History is a good book, I think so, anyway. however, The Little Friend i couldn't finish as I thought it was boring. Too drawn out - nothing seemed to happen.

Smash Hits! The end! (UK music mag)

Smash Hits is no more. I used to love this magazine. I used to cut out the lyrics to the songs and put the free posters up. But then, I never did get out that much. Apparently, kids these days want info and gossip on their phones and computers. Bloody sceenagers!

    Top 10 Books for Schoolchildren

Some of those books are enought to put kids off reading for life. I was made to read Kes, Narnia and the Bible, and that almost did it for me. Love them now though. Well, Kes and Narnia at least....

Sterilization - Should it be Mandatory in some cases?

Moto asked: "Is there ever a point when the state, or the law should force surgical sterilization on a person? Whether it be a male or female?" Yes. If it's legal to kill people when they have murdered. then why not the above for abuse? Moto Asked: "Sex offender or in this case a baby...

    Gift-Giving Hall of Shame
