I loved the artemis fowl books! i am not normally into children's fiction but i thought that this series was intelligent, witty and funny and had an interesting concept (faries with guns :D). I had been looking forward to the release of the opal deception and it is by far the best of the fowl books.
This appears to be a commonly held veiw, wanting only to know what happens next. i think as the books try to get darker, the worse and more predictable they become.
Who is the best fantasy character there is? My favourite fantasy character is either Raistlin Majere (Dragonlance) or Tasselhoff Burrfoot (Dragonlance). This is because i think raistlin is just cool and tasselhoff is funny, adding humour to the sometimes dark 'lance books.
This thread is for the discussion of Stephen Palmer's Glass. Did you like it? What Do you think of the characters? did you follow the storyline completely the first time round?
Assassin
I think thant the amount of death in the books is necessary; its not just the book being grusome, I think that it is all down to the fact that Takeo is an assassin
The book is about two boys; pug and tomas. pug is a magician and tomas is a warrior. for most of the book pug cannot cast spells. pug and tomas are both caught up in a war; the riftwar and they are both destined to inherit great power. its a great book
Life, The Universe and Everything; 42!!!!
The best beginning I have ever read is;
"The regular early morning yell of horror was the sound of Arthur Dent waking up and suddenly remembering where he was"
I like this primarily because it says The Hitchikers Guide all over it, but other than...
Hp
You are abseloutley right. The amount of controversy over the release of the order of the phoenix was colossal. Most of the people who I know who would rather die than read a book have read it, and some have read it but didn't take in a word of it in. I think that there is some creativity in...
My favorite authors in order of prefrence;
1. Raymond E. Feist (magician)
2. Douglas Adams (the guide)
3. Margaret Weis (Dragonlance)
4. Ursula Le Guin (earthsea)
5. Maggie Furey (shadowleague & the Artifacts Of Power)
For Those of us who have read Dragonlance, do you think Raistlin is plain evil, or just ambitious, is there "a spark of good" in the mage turned bad? (well...worse):D
Yip, Me too
I am exactly the same tarablythe, i normally just end up memorising the page number i am on, either that or i put in a notebook page which, within an hour will be removed, used to write an annagram and lost in that order. :D I can normally find the page i was on and my books look...
