Mr. Jones is out of touch with book-lovers. I want both versions -- one for portability, the other for my bookshelf in order to leaf through when I like. I hate having to choose between digital and hard copy, particularly for favourite authors like Atwood, Munro and Ishiguro. I refuse to buy...
When I was younger, I would re-read books, but now I take the quote, "So many books; so little time" to heart.
I re-read portions of books for reference and discussion purposes, but otherwise I don't re-read. The last book I re-read in its entirety was The Blind Assassin.
I used to keep handwritten journals. They were fairly detailed with brief summaries and my thoughts about plots, characters, etc. As time went on and with the advent of the internet, I started a small book blog with my reviews. This became quite onerous, so then I went back to listing books on...
I am careful with my books - i.e. no creasing pages or turning corners as bookmarks - but not so terribly careful that I feel restrained in handling them.
I love to read in bed, so if I have a large book (e.g. Quicksilver), it's pretty hard not to bend the spine in order to open it up enough...

But then, if book sales are poor under the assumed name, the ruse will be leaked to the media because your publishers won't be able to resist using your real (famous author) name in order to make money.
(Robert Galbraith = J K Rowling)
Perhaps BOTM could be decided further in advance?
When I saw the October poll, I would have voted for Wolf Hall, but there was no way I'd have been able to read it in time for the discussion without putting aside other books I'm already reading. With such a short turn-around period, it almost...
Will someone please explain the difference between posting a comment on someone's Profile page and posting in a conversation.
'Cause I think I posted on a Profile page when it should have been a conversation. :(
The Heart Broke In - James Meeks
The Thirteenth Tale - Diane Setterfield
I've not read either of these authors before but purchased on the basis of reviews and price (sale, $4.99).
