Maybe if there was a "set of rules" set up by Darren and the mods, the members could help out themselves by reporting posts and explaining the rules if somebody breaks them. I think most members haven't even read the TOS here, so maybe making a sticky with forum policy wouldn't be such a bad...
That's why I keep posting these links. I'm not trying to be a pain, I would just really appreciate it if people used the search engine more. It's a really great tool.
Please do though. I never open new threads on books either cause I figure no one will be interested, but if everybody thinks that way, nothing would get posted.
(Yes, I'm telling you to do something I won't do myself. ;) )
I know not many people will care about this, but I thought I would mention it anyway.
As some of you may know, a woman called Thea Beckman published some of the most popular Dutch children novels in (semi)recent years (some were translated, some were not), one of them being Crusade in Jeans...
I read the introduction to HWOSG the other day and am really looking forward to starting the actual book. I didn't want to at first because my sister really liked it and I'm always disappointed when someone highly recommends something, but I think it might be my cup of tea after all.
On a sidenote: Could some more threads be closed though? I mean, if there are already four threads on the same thing, couldn't a moderator just link to the other threads and close the others, so the discussion is centralized? I don't care if it's the older ones or the newer ones that are closed...

Yes, it makes searching for specific terms a hell of a lot easier, that's certain. I just happen to like the "Don't eat here" and "Shut the **** up" attitude at the library. At least you know you're working then.
Yes, but there's a difference between talking about a subject and creating a new thread just to say "hello person X" or something, or not? One thread for chit chat wouldn't bother me, but there are so many threads open that are quite literally about nothing.
I wish I could, but I can't. There are already three threads on desert island things and even more on favourite movies, CDs, etc.
I'll play nicely and not post in this thread anymore though, if it's any consolation. ;)
Quite a few professors told me I had to e-mail them my work in Word format. I couldn't believe their nerve. I said I was willing to e-mail them my assignments in PDF, but no way am I going to go out of my way for their stupidity. It's against university policy anyway, to use platform dependent...
