    Gogol Bordello

Both Gogol Bordello and Balkan Beat Box are coming to town in November. I already have a ticket for Gogol Bordello, but maybe I should get one for Balkan Beat Box too?

    I Told a Lie Today...

I lie all the time. Small lies to make people happy, make them comfortable, make them smile, make them pee their pants from laughing too damn hard. They don't make me feel guilty. The big lies don't either, but they make me afraid someone might find out...

    Margaret Atwood: The Blind Assassin

I'm taking this book with me on my upcoming trip and my hands (and eyes) are itching. I had a peek already and had some trouble closing the book before I got totally sucked in. But tomorrow morning, there won't be any stopping me! And then there's this thread with all these spoilers in it... Ah!

    Lilya 4-Ever

I'd seen both Fucking Åmål and Tillsammans at the theatre and liked them, so when they showed Lilja 4-ever on TV, I thought I might as well watch it. Of course, I had no idea what kind of movie it would be, so it was a bit of a kick in the stomach for me.

    Babel

Never saw Crash, but didn't like Babel one bit myself.

Number of Browsers in your HD?

FIrefox 1.0.7 and sometimes Konqueror 3.4.3. I should upgrade.

How do you find the time?

Finally, someone who's even worse off than I am!

    Current Non-Fiction reads

I'm reading a very interesting book on the murder of Patrice Lumumba.* I'm reading it for a class I'm taking, so it could be considered "work", but it's well-written and really does read like a crime novel. (The way most non-fiction books don't, even if the back cover says they do.) It's also...

    Name That Band...

    Otis Redding?

Dave Eggers: What Is The What?

Given how I liked A Heartbreaking Work, I'll probably pick this up too, if it's not too expensive.

I watched Down By Law again. "I ham a good egg!"

The first sentence in the book you're reading

"Ce livre est avant tout l'histoire d'un homme, qui vécut la plus grande partie de sa vie en Europe occidentale, durant la seconde moitié du XXe siècle." (M. Houellebecq, Les particules élémentaires) Not very good, as far as first sentences go, I guess.

Who here speaks more than one language?

I know. What I meant was that the basics of Icelandic are much easier to learn for Scandinavians, because a lot of things are still the same... Like the stuff Baddie taught ValkyrieRaven88... The roots are basically still the same, whereas that's not always the case anymore in other Germanic...

Pan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto del Fauno)

I'm still trying to track down a theatre in my area where they play this.

Who here speaks more than one language?

Puh! And still the Scandinavians I met insisted that learning Icelandic was as hard for them as it was for me, when so many words are so very similar.

    Where do you live??

I don't appreciate being lumped into the "other" category. If Asia and the Middle East get their own categories, then Europe sure as hell should too!

Who here speaks more than one language?

The only two languages I'm good at are English and my mother tongue. The others I only dabble in.

    Alexandre Dumas

I haven't read much of his work, but I'm planning on doing something about that. I'm currently some 200 pages into La Tulipe Noire -- I want to finish it as fast as possible so that I can start Vingt Ans Après.

    Last seen...

Would you recommend it? Cause I see it in stores a lot at a relatively cheap price. Last movie I went to myself was "Crusade in Jeans" -- I'd expected more of it, really.

    I can't find this

That sounds familiar. Though I may be thinking about a fairy tale were the months were young men?
