I haven't seen a Rubik's cube in years...I mean 20 years or so (I'm not that old, just been a long time since I was 8). I got it solved the first time, though it took a while (I was only 8). Never tried again.
mehastings: I HATE Monopoly. I also get bored, but mostly I am just too...
I showed up at midnight for the last one...it was a lot of fun, but I am not a night person. I ended up coming home as soon as I got the book and fell asleep. I began reading it as soon as I got up and showered the next morning.
Our bookstore doesn't have the vouchers yet for preordering, but...
Sagittarius (b'day Dec 21st)
Supposedly Sagittarius are:
Optimistic and freedom-loving
Jovial and good-humored
Honest & straightforward
Intellectual and philosophical
Irresponsible and superficial
Tactless and restless
Never really fit me, not that I really believe in all that stuff.

I second Amy Tan - her novels are wonderful.
Also:
Emily Bronte - Wuthering Heights will always be a favorite book.
Jane Austen
Diana Wynne Jones
JK Rowling
Welcome!
I, too, admire you for teaching 1st grade. I teach 7th grade. Love 'em to death, but they sure are crazy. I could not imagine teaching any younger, though - I don't have the energy!
Great book from your signature. I've had experience with parents saying they need the...
I'll have to pay closer attention to the mass market paperbacks I read....I haven't noticed this trend. If I had a book that had a great many mistakes, I would also be annoyed, however, I haven't encountered more than a 1 or 2 per book while reading.
When I was 15. I was hanging out with my boyfriend at his house watching tv...when his sisters left the room we snuck a few kisses. The best kiss was my first with my husband. We were sitting in a tree at the duckpond at Virginia Tech. I will always remember that one with a smile on my face...
Us teachers hate V-day for this reason. And I teach 12-13 year olds...I was so glad that we had a snow day on Valentines, as well as yesterday. They cry enough on regular days. I'm just glad our school didn't sell flowers this year! Whew.
Lots of fun...I got my new MacBook today! :D My first laptop, and it's very exciting. My old computer has been acting up for several months, so it is nice to get a fully functional computer. Already have it set up and I'm using it now!
Grammatical errors don't bother me much. I usually take note of obvious spelling errors, but pass by them without much thought unless I reread the book often (such as the books I use in my reading class). However, errors such as referencing a certain character when they are not present, etc...
Not really into horror myself - you'll have to discuss those with other members. My imagination is too vivid...it doesn't need extra food that scares me.
Am I the only one who likes to read in the winter? I love curling up with a cup of hot chocolate or hot tea, my cat and a book. I find it very relaxing....especially on snowy days (like today).
I was discounting Voldy. I think Snape will surprise us, I just hope he doesn't die to do it.
I can imagine she'd kill out Ron & Hermione! What a thought! I hope it isn't the twins.
Ooh, I am right there with you. Heaven forbid it be a Weasley, I just adore the whole family (except maybe Percy)!
I'm thinking maybe Snape will be offed...and...?
