    Harry Potter School Books

Did I say warlocks? I meant wizards. What a rousing discussion that would start with my Harry Potter gurus here at home. I'll have to ask them if they know the difference between warlock and wizard. Darren, I scanned "Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them" and "Quidditch Through the...

    Hardback or Paperback

I prefer hardbacks, but my budget prefers paperbacks. I would choose a hardback from the library over a paperback, if given a choice. If I think it is a "keeper" I'll then buy it. If I hear about a good series that's been in publication for some time, and I know I'm going to want to read...

    Mary Doria Russell

Although she's relatively new on the scene, she's one of my favorite authors. Ms. Russell has only published two books to date...one more to be out in December. "The Sparrow" was her first. Any fans?

    Hi all!

Thanks, Chris! I'm sure we'll be able to find some books that we BOTH like. (Harry Potter is apparently NOT one :D ) In the little time I have been participating, I can tell it is, indeed, a great group. See you on the boards!

    Harry Potter School Books

It is, indeed, a series about a group of children in school to become warlocks, but it's more than that. Not that I'm crazy for the books like my children. It's a coming-of-age story about a boy who learns about himself and the worlds(s) around him through a series of adventures. He learns...

    Book Titles A-Z

Sorry about that. I didn't see there was a page 2 in this thread, hence the "P". Voyage of the Jerle Shannara by Terry Brooks

    Stephen King

Thanks for the welcome, Ell. I would have to say that The Stand is my favorite with The Talisman a close second. Of course The Shining was great too. Hmmm. Tough call. That would be my top three. I do wish he'd concentrate on finishing The Dark Tower series, though.

    Book Titles A-Z

Prince Caspian (The Chronicles of Narnia Book 4) by C.S. Lewis
  9. Dawn

    Harry Potter School Books

I haven't read them, but my boys (age 10 & 12) have them and love them. But then they'd love anything Harry Potter. Chris, I have heard that response from many people, but I can't agree. My sons now read for pleasure because of the series. I had tried everything to get them to read, but...

    Stephen King

This is my first post. Hello all! I am a Stephen King fan, but I don't buy every book he puts out. I made that mistake years ago and was disappointed several times. I don't know if the books I didn't like were duds or just ones that didn't appeal to me. Tommyknockers and Cujo are two...

My name is Dawn and I'm a born and raised New Orleanean. I lived for a couple of years on the Atlantic Coast...Melbourne, Florida, and a couple on the East Coast...Oxnard, California. But My home will always be New Orleans. There is a saying here, "You can take a New Orleans girl out of New...
