    Laugh Out Loud Funny

My sincere apologies, Gryphon. It's Doyle, not McDowell. I made the mistake of asking my husband (thanks anyway, dear), since I couldn't remember the author. The Van is part of the Barrytown Trilogy: The Commitments (which spawned the movie) The Snapper The Van The dialog in the...

    Concentration while reading

I'm with you, Martin. I don't have much difficulty concentrating on a book. If I do, I quit. Of course, I'm reading for pleasure. About Eon. I enjoyed it, but it did have a bit too much "tech-tale" for my taste.

    Laugh Out Loud Funny

The Van by Roddy McDowell. Very Irish and very funny.

    Need new series of books!!!

I didn't particulary care for Artemis Fowl. My 13 year old son raved about it, sp I borrowed his first book. Can't really say why, except I didn't like the characters. Harry Potter has ruined me.

    Greetings, all

Welcome, welcome. I've been away awhile and trying to catch up. Where is CA did you live? I lived in Oxnard (Ventura County) for three years and my oldest son recently relocated to Monterey with his Airforce wife. Haven't been there yet, but plan to. I hear it's beautiful. 'eclectic...

    Audio books.

The only time I've ever listened to books on tape was last summer when the boys and I drove to Disneyworld. It was a 12 hour drive. We went to the library and picked out a couple of books, one which ran 7 hours! It was a great experience. We got to listen together and discuss it during the trip.

    Books Per Month

About 6-8 per month. I tend to read more during the school months when the kids go to bed early. Now, though, they're up til midnight or beyond! With Harry Potter coming out at the end of the week, they'll be plenty occupied!

    One book wonder

I read an article about it somewhere. I also thought it sounded interesting. If it comes to New Orleans, I'll probably check. The article mentioned that the book was hard to come by.

    Poll: Music while reading?

I enjoy my music and my books separately. I used to listen to music while reading when I was in college but found that I tended to either tune it out or lose my place in the book.

    Recommend books to me

I enjoyed Temple also, but had to suspend disbelief quite a bit. It was just a fun ride. I'll have to check out the web site.

    Summer Reading List

I haven't come up with a list, but I need one! Two of you listed Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. I've been looking at that one every time I go to the book store. The only one I know I have to re-read is the 4th Harry Potter. I'm about to shell out a lot of money for two copies of the...

To start things off: Favorite books

I loved Jane Ayre! I try to catch every movie version that comes out, but have been sorely dissapointed so far. (No surprise there, I guess).
