You might like Sword of Shanarra by Terry Brooks? It's about a half-elf half-human young man who grows up in a village where nothing much happens and ends up on a quest that could determine the fate of the world.
Do you like SciFi? Have you read Ender's Game? It's one of my favorite...
You may very well find some interested readers here, Iris. My suggestion is to direct people interested in reviewing your novel to contact you via email to work out the details. How's that sound?
To start, why don't you give us a synopsis?
I finally got it...and read it! I liked the fact that the rescuers aren't obviously the black-and-white hero types. They want to save us, but with a price. You must play nice and conform to The Law or be punished. (Whatever that punishment is, I'm sure it's not so nice.) It reminded me of...
I'm heading to the bookstore with this one on the top of my list to look for. This is the second time you've mentioned it, Prolixic. That's a good enough recommendation for me!

As far as books that I've read that were not originally written in English:
Umberto Eco - The Name of...
Yes, I do. If the screenwriter/author intented his two paragraph dialog to be 4 words, then he/she would have written it in 4 words. I've watched Spanish-language movies with my husband, and he complains about the subtitles all the time. Beautiful passages are reduced to one line text.

I think this is probably the number one reason. It's all about money, isn't it? The more money poured into the marketing of a book the more return on the dollar. If the cover's interesting (yes, I do browse covers when shopping) then the more people will buy. The publishing industry, to a...
I may have to shop around, myself. I saw a single copy a couple of weeks ago, but when I went back to buy it the other day it was gone. Should have gotten it when I had the chance.
