Beloved by Toni Morrison. It was sad, beautiful and bit confusing at times, but what a wonderful book!

    T.V.-a love/hate relationship?

I could never get rid of my TV because it has become an important part of my life. TV links me to the world through CNN, BBC News, and TGI RAI, excites my mind with shows on the History or Discovery channels, makes me laugh and cry with films on HBO, and gives me a dose of reality with the...

    I just finished reading...

Just finished Mansfield Park (unabridged) and was suffering through the entire book. I just could not get into it, I find it very boring and the characters uninteresting. I've read Austen's other works and loved them. Guess I can't be expected to like them all.

    Six feet under

I stopped watching after the big "shocker" episode of the final season. I no longer have interest in the remaining episodes because of it. I think it was a bad move on the writer's part.

The Machinist. Excellent thriller except looking at an amaciated Christian Bale was hard at first but it was so essential to the film.

    Recently Purchased/Borrowed

Went to B&N to browse and walked out with four books. They're small and cheap because they are part of the Collector's Library. I came home with Mansfield Park, Descartes, Portrait of a Lady, and Thoreau.

    The Bible?

The Last Supper is a fraud! I mean the painting. Who knows, J.C. may have gotten together with his boys for a snack before they came to get him, but he sure as heck was not sitting at a table because they didn't use tables or chairs back then. They ate sitting on the floor, in a circle, sharing...

Yeah, I thought it was funny too. Vince Vaughn is hysterical with the way he talks fast and his quick remarks.

    Bible poll: fiction or nonfiction?

I believe that the bible is a lot of embellished stories.

    The Bible?

I have a difficult time accepting the old and new testament as the word of God for the following reasons: 1. What of the other people in the world who have no concept of a judeo-christian God. Are they lost? 2. It was written by men in the Middle East so there are laws in the book that no...

    Six feet under

Don't say too much about it because others are still behind in episodes.

I just saw Mansfield Park and loved it. I thought it was well acted, scripted, edited, etc., etc. and Jonny Lee Miller is always a pleasure to look at. ;)

    Behind the times....

My local PBS picked up EastEnders this year. I was soooooooooooo excited because it hasn't been shown for 3 years, but we're still 5 years behind the UK.

    Labyrinth

I love Bowie so Labrynth is on my video shelf. The soundtrack is good as well, and I have that also.

Just finished... I just finished Miss Bradstreet, a biography of poet Ann Bradstreet. I really enjoyed it. It was historical as well as a biography, which are my favorites!

Seeing your own name in a book.

Both my first and last names are not common in the U.S. so I've never seen in print other than the clothesline "Rafaella" (spelled differently) or the two restaurants in Greenwich Village named "Raffaela" (again, spelled differently).

    Bad Remakes

Lord, how I hate bad remakes. I'm not crazy about remakes in general, but I've seen a few that were decent. Now what brings this is all to mind is the viewing of Swept Away with Madonna as the female lead. I love Guy Ritchie films, and I love the original Swept Away (Travolti da un insolito...
