How To Tell 1st Edition Books

The easiest way is the check inside the title page, as Peronel suggested. Just watch for reprintings - it could be a second reprinting but in the same year as the original printing.

    Guy Gavriel Kay: Tigana

I finished reading this last night, and although I really, really enjoyed it, I have to confess that I prefer The Lions of Al-Rassan. What I really liked about this novel was the depth of the characters, especially in regards to the villians. As others have noted, Brandin was not your...

I think that A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess would be considered a horror, but I'm sure that someone will correct me on that :p It's a brilliant book!

I finished if on a winter's night a traveler yesterday, the first book that I have completed in over a month, and boy am I glad that I chose such a stunner to get back into the reading game. Unique, compelling, thought-provoking - the list of complimentary adjectives could go on for a long...

What I think about the blogging section

I agree with Dr. if it is a diary-style blog, but I'm intent on keeping my blog updated as an online list of the books I have read this year. It's so much easier to be able to cut and paste rather than type them all out at once for things like "Books you have read this month" etc.

    post embarassing confessions

I cheated once at a game of memory to win the prize, and for about 1 month after my grandad would brag to everyone we met what a brilliant memory I had. :o What's a facebook?

His books are great - I was addicted to them when I was younger, and we loved it when our teacher read them to us. My favourite has to be The Busker, although it always made me sad. Bryce Courtenay is another Australian author that I have to mention because I think he's fantastic (he's of The...

Ah, yes, I was going to mention her but it totally slipped my mind when I came to forming my reply. And I also forgot to mention Sam Hunt, probably our most famous poet (sorry, I can't really add my own opinion on his works because I'm not a big fan of poetry). EDIT: And Katherine Mansfield, of...
