I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say that it is a commonwealth flag. We have the Union Jack in the corner, yes, but the flag itself is very much unique (even though it does look strikingly similar to the Aussie flag...
I can't stand it when authors decide to leave out quotation marks in their books. Not many authors can pull it off - it just gets confusing, and I think that it's unecessary.
I think that the kid shoud have been charged for vandalism and arson, but I don't think that he should be charged with flag desecration. I think that people should have to right to do that (to their own flag, of course), although I don't really think that it's a very intelligent nor effective...
I think that Eye was trying to say that King has had a lot of practice that he's far from perfect, hence the saying isn't true.
Just a little bit of humor, I believe. Nothing too deep and meaningful :p
From the posts I had read on it, I was expecting it to be an original masterpiece of a book which explored the dark sides of human nature. Pretty much it was being touted as one of the best books out there. I just didn't see that. I didn't take to the style, the lack of quotation marks annoyed...
Blindness by Jose Saramago is probably the most disappointing book I have read. Not the worst, but the most disappointing. From the rave reviews I had been reading, I expected something much, much better.
By all means read it, as I know that a lot of people love it - I'm just warning you...
I agree with Frodo - female teenagers definitely read more than male teenagers.

I've got about 20 on my shelf still to be read - I stopped buying books a few months back because otherwise the number of unread books was just going to go through the roof.
