I just bought Star Wars on Trial yesterday and am completely engrossed by it. I can't stop reading it and I'm having trouble deciding which book i should read, this one or the first of the han solo trilogy. (yes, i'm in a big star wars mood. have been for the past week. and yes, i know star wars...
tullulah, I can understand why you stopped reading the rule of four: while the plot and characters are necesary for the story, they take away from the 'intellectual part of the book'.
hmm..i'm reading notre dame de paris in french now. Trying to struggle through it. It's dull at times and...
I own three versions of the three musketeers. not one of them is good. i'm wworking on buying the good one. I cried at the end of the man in the iron mask, but I agree, it was a bit of a letdown-mostly because of Raoul.
I dunno..my fave is between monte cristo and the musketeers. Depends on...
Kavitha: how did you like the amulet of samarkand? it's one of my fave books.
who mentioned farenheit 451? I finished it this weekend. At a volleyball tournament.
i dont own all that many books, i prefer the library, and frankly dn't care how my books look as long as they're readable. you should see my copy of HP 1. my friend saw it, looked at me, and turned murderous. And it was my book!
i go everwhere book in hand, even to volleyball games where i'm playing. My coach, when she isn't congradulating me on a brillaint save, gets mad. i read in the bathtub and sitting on the toilet, etc...and always carry a book to school to read before class starts. it's kind of a habit. i go to...
well, unless it's a classic that you absolutely have to read even if it's boring you to death(Ivanhoe comes to mind), I'd say quality is definately the important thing. Of course, I like to have both, because when I really love a book I don't want it to end, I want to escape to that world for as...
gem-I LOVE alexandre dumas, i'm practically obsessed!
oh yes, and did i mention that I read pushkin in russian? i love being able to read russian lit in the original!
and I keep track of all the books i've ever read(or try to, anyway), that's how i remember.
A bit of a digression: by bookseller told me the book is coming out on 07/07/07 when I told him I wanted to reserve it. It was december and he looked at me like i was crazy and told me the book is coming out july 7th.
I know there's a thread for libba bray, but it kind of started off as an argument about how a thread should be started, so hopefully in this thread we can actually discuss the books..
mods, feel free to merge this with the other libba bray thread or whatever you need to do.
I personally...

hmm...Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer? They're teen books so I don't know how much you'd like them, but I really enjoyed them and it might be what you're looking for.
I haven't yet read anything by chelsea quinn yarbro, but I've heard about her st. germain series, give that a try.
I will probably get a virtual slap for recommending Dan Brown, but Deception Point involves the president and politics.
I've heard that Brad Meltzer and Neal Stephenson have some books that might be what you're looking for, but I haven't read anything by them myself.
