Usually if I don't get into a book, I just stop reading it. I don't know that I could list a "least favorite" because I just don't finish them.
I've tried reading the Pern series twice, and L.E. Modesett's books twice, just off the top of my head and I can't get into them.
Pern's books...
DUSK and DAWN are both pretty dark. They're a two book series by Tim Lebbon.
Also, Terry Goodkind's books have a LOT of sexual deviance in them, but you're talking a 13 book series.
Can't think of any other's off the top of my head. I don't actually go looking for that sort of book...
Recently found The Gunslinger for $1 at a half price books clearance rack, so I picked it up.
I started reading it, and it's actually a lot more enjoyable than I remember. It's a slow start, and there's a lot of puzzling stuff in it you just don't quite seem to get, mostly because you're not...
I recently read an author's note in the second book of Stephen King's Dark Tower series, and in it he says that at age 19, it was one of his ambitions to create the largest series (page volume) ever written. He didn't succeed, (which he fully admits to) but it got me thinking about the people...
His books definitely have some dark qualities in them, as well as some dark, sexual qualities to parts of them.
When I got to Soul of the Fire, I almost put his series down for good. The thing read like smut. The story wasn't even good. It was just about a derelict village where everyone...
It's hard not to have a lull right now. Robert Jordan's death obviously leaves us without a great fantasy writer. Terry Pratchett reportedly has alzheimers and if its being reported, you can bet there have been some noticeable episodes in his life.
Goodkind just wrapped up a 13 book series...
Ah, ok. At the time I read that, I just thought it was some kind of evolution of the Order's religion. I.e. mankind is retched and needs the Creator to save them.
Mathius
Alright, so I read this, and went out and bought "Mistborn" It's supposed to be a trilogy, but he only has two books published so far. I went to the library to get "Well of Ascencion", the second book.
Sanderson is a fantastic author, his books have a very very unique magic system, and the...
I don't remember that particular reference to comment on it. If I can get a copy of the book again, I'll re-read the ending, but that part obviously didn't stick with me, and I have a few other good books lined up I want to read.
Upon further reflection though, I still think this book was a...
I don't know how many people here are fans of his work. I have had some ups and downs with the series.
The first book was fantastic, and the next several were very good as well. When Soul of the Fire came out, I almost quit reading the series, it was that bad, but when Faith of the Fallen...
That's exactly how it happened with my grandma. She started acting funny one day, and then the doctors said she had a stroke.
Alzheimers is a very odd disease and really there is relatively little known about it.
I have actually heard an interview on the radio where a guy said that you...
Do you think, or have you heard if Azhure will be back in the new series?
Also, on a side note, I was xmas shopping at our large Borders store in Crocker Park two days ago. It's a rather huge store, completely with a Cafe and a reading area... you know the type. They have music as well...
Man, all my favorite writers are getting f'ed up or dying. This sucks. Pratchett has always been a sortof light read for me. His books are small, generally satirical in nature, and mostly hilarious. While I'm sure there are other books like this out there, he is the only one I know of who...
The ending of Wayfarer Redemption left me truly disappointed.
I thought the rest of the series was fantastic. I literally read one of the 400+ page books in one night because I was so "into it".
Did it bother you in the Serpent Bride that
I have not read her other books where...
I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking which books you should read?
I have read most of the Shannara books, and quite a few of the Dragonlance books, and I have to say they are both quite good in their own rights.
The thing with Shannara is you have to remember that Brooks...
I actually saw her web site.. must have been shortly after posting this. I don't frequent here all the time.
I just finished the Serpent Bride. It's my understanding (based on her web page) that this was an attempt to bring back all her favorite characters into one novel.
The book was...
Every story has been told at some point. It's up to the author to make it interesting.
I used to be into MUDS when I was in high school. Sortof a brief description here.. a MUD is a text based game. You're displayed a room description or a monster description, and you have commands you...
Ok, maybe I"m just too stupid to figure it out, but it seems you can't edit a post here?
EDIT: Ok, obviously you can, but I guess only for a certain amount of time.
Anyways, yeah... the Wayfarer Redemption actually isn't a trilogy. It's 6 books. I just located the other three at my...
Yeah, she seems to have quite a few titles. In fact, based on the book list I read, I think the wayfarer series actually has three more books.
Right now I'm reading a series by David Coe, and another by Barb and J.C. Hendee. But I've ordered the other three books from the local library...
