I'm not a Mac user, but I wouldn't want to take the time to scan all my books, manga, music CDs, Videos, DVDs, PC games, and console games. I don't even have barcodes for everything - a lot of my books are old used books without dust jackets. You won't hear any screaming from my direction.

It depends on the book, how easy and inexpensive it would be to replace, and whether the person asking has a nasty habit of borrowing without returning.
