Yeah, it was a lot of fun! The lamb didn't cook in time, unfortunately, so I took it to the party and, luckily, we had a lot of finger food to get to and I could finish it up in their oven. It turned out beautifully!
What is boiled dinner? Basically you put a ham in a pot of boiling water and...
I'm off with the other half to his lab's christmas party pot luck. I've got a leg of lamb roasting in the oven and he's cooking a boiled dinner. They wanted us to bring 'national' dishes, and this is the best we could do. The boiled dinner is pretty standard fare where he's from, and is usually...
No one's mentioned 'Boy'? I just loved that book too - not as much as Matilda, mind you. The part where the boys put the mice in the confectionary store glasses was hilarious, hideous and frightening at the same time. Loved it!
I actually read the second one first, knowing the story behind the first one. After reading it I then read the first one. It was eye opening and disturbing and so very sad. It's amazing that he grew up to be so well adjusted.
I posted about the telemovie on another thread, but I just wanted to mention it again here. In 2000 there was a telemovie of the book released. *Very* powerful. Unfortunately I can't compare it to the older movie, however. I'm reading this book just as soon as I get into the right frame of mind...
Absolutely. It was touch and go for a bit a little while ago for me, personally, but thankfully that passed when the members I had issues with moved on. The one thing I can't stand is snobbery. If you have an issue with one member, it's pretty easy to just avoid them. If you take issue with a...
Woooooooooooooooooooo! I just hope we haven't built it up too much  . Have fun and as soon as I see it in your currently reading tag I'll be waiting with baited breath!
The last few haven't been so hot. Christmas 2000 was just a month after my darling grandfather passed on, and the next 3 I spent in Canada away from my family. Last christmas I flew home to have my first christmas with family in 4 years, but it was somewhat bitter-sweet as another family member...
It's also a great idea to capitalise on current events when choosing a book. That may draw in kids who otherwise may not be interested in 'reading' but are interested in specific issues.
You could have a vote every month to see what the book discussion for the forthcoming book should be -...
All in good time, my friend. I'm rather run off my feet at the moment too. TBF is my procrastination material, but I don't have a lot of time to devote right now. I missed out of my Hallowe'en costume, unfortunatley, but I have other plans for that :D.
What do you miss most at Christmas time?
A bike when I was 7 - it had tiny raindeer on the handlebars and cemented my gullability towards Mr Claus for a few more years!
Where has leckert been??!!
Put me under virtual, SFG. I'm an untrusting soul :p . I'm also moving in a few weeks time.
For the 'real gift' people I think that a $5 limit should be imposed. I think this should be more about thinking of something fun and creative. That way we'll avoid any sort of extravagent spending and...
