Given that Bookie is probably done here, I'm deviating to Isabell's link.
I can't believe admin. would consider banning someone over text message speak. It seems a little harsh. Despite the fact that I find text speach heinous to read and incredibly pointless outside of a media format where...
I just want to clarify something. SFG's comment below was directed at Shade, and to someone who hasn't read the entire thread it may imply that it was I who "started the religion thing".
Please note that at no point in time did I bring up any member's religious beliefs - go back and read the...
It depends. Some movies will make only one soundtrack and include both original score and previously released tracks. It just depends on what is marketable.
Then you've got 'soundtracks' in which the music is 'inspired by' the movie. That's a just a shoddy marketing ploy, in my opinion.
Is that because of a risk of salmonella bacteria? I assume that the juices from the raw turkey may run into the stuffing which, if not heated sufficiently could result in salmonella bacteria in the stuffing. Just a guess, though. Care to clarify, mehastings? I never considered this possibility.
Give them to friends or family :). There is always someone who I think may like a particular title in my collection. If I can't think of someone then I would give them to goodwill.
In a more fictional adventure/fantasy vein, I just finished Across the Nightingale Floor: Tales of the Otori: Book 1 by Lian Hearn. This is loosely set in feudal Japan:
This book can be read on its own or in conjunction with the rest of the series. I've read elsewhere that this is aimed at...
Bear in mind that 'Memoirs of a Geisha' is fictional. There are many other books that came out on the heels of this that are autobiographical. I haven't read either of these, but here's two I've heard about:
Geisha by Liza Crihfield Dalby is supposed to be excellent and is on my TBR
Geisha: A...
Initially I thought ions' idea was silly. Then I went and looked at the way the Book of the Month thread is set up, and I think it's much better than relocating the Book of the Month threads.
I think a single locked thread should be made as a sticky in Fiction entitled, "Previous Book of the...
Although Turque did specify "original", I'm not sure that he meant that to comply with your definition (which I agree with, btw) because he listed 'The Full Monty' and 'Only You', both of which contain songs that were previously released.
If we are talking 'original' soundtracks, I nominate...
In response to Moto's question "What mob", I present to you "the mob":
I just find the concept of talking about the torture of a man who has not yet been convicted of a crime to be quite heinous. It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, and as such I have not been part of the...
If you're interested in trying some short stories I would recommend JG Ballard. He's written novels too, but I haven't read those. His earlier short stories are great, and I'm not usually a 'sci-fi' fan - I'm more of a fantasy sort of person. I'd recommend picking up a 'Best of J.G. Ballard'...
This took me a while too - perhaps this will help:
... make sure the spacing is the same between 'Dog' and 'and', and 'and' and 'Duck'!
I can't get this one, though.
Hi Amy and welcome!! :)
Complete this sentence: "My daughter is happily sleeping, it's raining outside, I have finished the housework and I'm sitting in a comfy chair with a cup of tea. I pick up my book and read the title, ...."
Apparently you dunk the whole thing in a huge pot of oil - outside only because of the danger of a grease fire. Some friends of mine looked it up recently when they were considering it for Canadian Thanksgiving, but it was just too dangerous to do without the proper equipment! Regarding the...
Great post, Shade. I've been biting my tongue because I was afraid of getting lynched and strung up by the mob here. But your post captures it all precisely. Is pedophilia a disease, a psycological condition or an evil pursuit? I think the jury is still out on that one. But understanding is...
