Me too
I liked it too and I like to identify or discuss other quixotic characters or situations in other books too. It's a wonderful story, even if the wrong conclusion would be that books make you crazy.;)
Watch
I even sleep with my watch on the left arm which makes my family laugh, I can't do without my watch, it's a classical one, but with very good batteries, I've had it since I was 18, for ten years that is.:)
It's interesting why people don't give up watches even if you can see the time...
Red eyes
Yes, it's not a joke, I get weary eyes when I read for hours or when I work on the computer, my eyes get red:o
Breaks don't seem to help, especially if I have to study for an exam and stay up.
I often do that when I have enough time, on holiday, especially on summer holidays. Last summer for example I read everything by Ishiguro and Tracy Chevalier. I don't get tired, maybe because there are periods when I'm too busy to read and when I get hold of an author i like, I can't get enough...
Notebook
I usually read with a pencil in my hand, I ve had this habit since I had to read books for my exams. Now, even if I don't read that book for an exam, but just for fun, I still have a pencil in my hand and mark the passages I like,so after I finish it I write down sentences i liked but...
A few
I have a few books on my shelf, waiting to be read, but I have an excuse:) I have to read and reread for an exam these days, so I'm reading DH Lawrence even if other books are waiting for me.
Books
My bookcase is dark brown and black and the Wordsworth Classics Collection looks wonderful in it, but I arrange my books according to author, language and top ten of my favourite books. My favourite ones are in the front row on the left, guarded by a toy hedgehog.:)
Best reads
Geoffrey Eugenides- Middlesex
Kazuo Ishiguro- Never Let Me Go
Ana Gavalda- Ensemble c'est tout
And others but I'll have to check my reading list, sometimes I write down the titles I like best.
Quite possessive
I'm quite possessive about books because I think it's fair that you should get them back after lending them. Obviously there are people that make me ask for my books back as if they weren't mine, I hate this.
I have a friend who stuck a note on her bookcase saying I...
Holiday months
It depends on the month, I usually buy one book, but when I'm on holiday I go crazy, I can buy up to five books because I need a book pile to see on my desk, like a promise of many ficional worlds I could go to during the holiday.:)
Next
She's next, she's on my reading list, I had one of her books from the library and had to give it back because I didn't have time to read it, so now, in my winter holiday, she will be the first on my reading list. I can't wait to share my impressions with you. What book do you recommend...
Logical question
Right, logical question! Actually, I'm not sure of the English title as I read it in translation, I read "How to know a woman" or is it "To know a woman"?
I liked it a lot, you get to know a character through the narrator's memories, he remembers his wife in beautifully...
I like his style
Yes, yes, I read one of his books and was wondering when I would get the chance to share my impressions with someone. And I got "My husband, Michael" as a Christmas present, but I haven't read it yet. The thing is my husband's name is really Michael.:)
He's great
Hardy is always the first name that comes to my mind when people ask me who my favourite classical English author is. I read most of his novels, I loved Jude the Obscure and Tess, great movies have been made based on his books and I think Tess is such an interesting story that...
Conrad
Heart of Darkness, Lord Jim, anything by Conrad as you see. I finished them because I had to do so for the exams, but I didn't like the world they take you to. I don't mind the style and language, it's a subjective point of view, but I didn't like them at all.
Night watch
Reading at night helps me unwind, sometimes I can't fall asleep unless I read a few pages even if they don't actually make me fall asleep, they just make me relax and forget about the problems of the day.In summer I like reading at night with my window open, feel the cool breeze...
Musicians
I haven't seen it yet, but I was impressed by teasers and trailers of it and by the fact that both actors sing, actually sing and do a great job.
I heard they are going to make a film about sinatra, it's a real fashion, making movies about musicians. think about Ray, the film about...
