In a thread called ' Books which have frightened you to the extent you've had to stop reading.....' in General Book discussion.
RobertFKennedy mentions a book called Hostage to the Devil by Father Malachi Martin.
As i am interested in books with religous themes has anybody else read any of his...
Couldn't agree more, gives people more of a chance to discover new authors.
It would also stop you going to the wrong section when looking for a particular book.
Never read anything scary enough to stop me reading. I do like the sound of 'Hostage to the Devil' checked it out on Amazon will purchase it with my next order.
I agree, 'Temple' was the frist book of his i read and the most enjoyable along with 'Contest', i have also read 'Ice Station' and 'Area 7' but i've yet to read 'Scarecrow'.
I tend to treat M Reilly as Throw away reading don't take it seriuosly and just enjoy it for what it is, easy to read...
The book was bought for this person as a present. It was not the type of book they normally read but gave it a go, couldn't get on with it, so asked if i wanted it.
Can't say I feel insulted.
You've all got me interested now, i will read 'Owen Meaney' soon and let you know what i think.
By the way the person who gave it to me only read 50 pages and gave up.
The fourth hand also looks interesting.
Just been given a book, 'A Prayer for Owen Meany' by John Irving
I've put it on my ever increasing TBR pile.
My question is, having never read anything by Irving before should i read it sooner rather than later. in other words is it any good ?
