Yeah but most guys write big boobs, long legs, and vacuous intellect. I think thats the point. Not that there's anything wrong with that in the proper setting but how many supermodels go around disarming nuclear bombs? All of them, if you read much SF. And anyone who's read much...
Zoli's got it right. I just sort of threw that thing about Robert Jordan writing it as a joke, Mage. When the book was printed Robert Jordan is listed as the author on the Copryright page. *shrug Printing error or something.
Do a google search: debt of bones recall. You'll get a jillion...
When I was a kid I pretty well lived in books. If I wasn't in the middle of a book it was because I was on my way to the bookshelf to put up the one I just finished and get a new one. As far as books I grew from or grew me or whatever? C.S. Lewis Chronicles of Narnia was great for me as a...
Sorry. Johnny Cash reference regarding your Richard Head Comment. He wrote a song about a boy named Sue who, upon meeting his Dad the first time, whups him. My name is not sue.
Okay on the MS Word. I love that thing.
Hey have you posted up anything on the female writers thread?
Sometimes there is an obvious chapter breakpoint. Sometimes there is a spot where I put one because I think it enhances the storyline. *shrug
I meant once you get it written. Is there an accepted norm for counting words? MS word has a word count feature that counts all the words automatically but I don't think thats what they're talking about. WAAAAY back in typing--yes it was typing once upon a time--I knew how to count words...
I've got an Epson too and I won't use anything else. I've used lasers--though its been awhile--and I actually prefer this one. *shrug
I guess it just depends on what you like, or rather what your publisher likes.
I with you there.
Three of my favs gone except in calendars and table books: Calvin and Hobbes, Non Sequitur (except Sundays someplaces) and Far Side. *sigh
I loved the fact that Calvin's Dad was a roadie (as opposed to a treadhead). One of my favorites shows Calvin laughing at him on...
Is this an Harry Potter slam? I've never read them, but then I don't have kids old enough either. It may be inane drivel to some folks but its hot-selling inane drivel.
Good method. Read reviews, look on the internet, chat with buddies--thats one of the main reasons I started posting here is because I was afraid to drop a wad of cash on a bunch of books I knew nothing about. Publishers can make just about anything anything sound good in a two paragraph blurb.
Say goodbye Crewman Number Two! ZZZZZZzzzzzttt!
No really not that they won't contribute or be likeable or unlikeable or have any depth but just so I know they're dead meat. Its better than picking which one of the others dies off.
I think that in the books both Legolas and Gimli contributed to the plot a great deal more than in the movies. In the movies the only real thing that contributed was CGI. Though I watch them frequently I have seen better acting in other films that didn't sweep the Academy Awards. I appreciate...
