A niggling voice at the back of my mind thinks there has been something by means of an explanation as to why Snape has never been Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher. Unfortunately, it's now that long since I read any HP books that I can't remember, but I'm almost positive it was explained...
Both Acolyte and I are realistic & we both appreciate how easy it is for things to easily get misinterpreted over the internet - I admit that I'm the one normally guilty of the latter, but you will just have to get used to the fact that Acolyte is far too perfect ;) mehastings was more accurate...
First of all, thank you to Acolyte who always knows the much better (& often diplomatic) way of explaining a situation. Also, thank you to mr_michel & Martin for your kind words.
Now, to explain a little better then I did late last night when very tired (though nowhere near the level of...
It's not so much I dislike offering my thoughts & feedback, merely that I don't feel adequately qualified to criticize such strong pieces of work.
The word stoically - it all depends upon what feeling you are trying to convey. I know that strictly speaking it would really fit in with the mood...
I personally can't think of anything to improve... erm .... *tries to thing of anything that may help*
"even as my solo self dissolves" - this is almost a tongue twister of a line, though I appreciate the importance of the senitment. Sorry I can't suggest an alternative though (now you know...
I think you have chosen some very powerful images there, the only thing I felt could improve would be the final line. Whilst the sentiment is perfect, for me it just doesn't seem to scan correctly, even "though now it speaks a foreign tongue" seems to work slightly better.
As always though, I...
I've always liked this poem Ross,
I've finally caved in though to the pressure of you wanting criticism on it & here are my meagre suggestions: maybe impassively, callously or soulessly (the latter probably being too long) could replace emotionlessly. I also feel the "half-filled and filling"...
I joined here as it was recommended to me, but immediately felt extremely uncomfortable as there were certain established cliques & it almost felt like if you chatted to some people here others totally alienated you. If someone new tries to take part they are frequently either immediately cut...
When I was about 11 or 12 my english teacher recommended I read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency & I was hooked from there onwards.
I keep meaning to read over his books again, as I haven't read them since my teenage years, but people with his sense of humour so seldom come along it's...
That's one of my major, major gripes in the films - his scar keeps moving.
I think that the US covers have always been different, they always drew Harry much more the way I imagined him.
For me it's because no matter how much he screws up he means well, he does love his family & when pushed he ultimately does the right thing. Also, I guess it's because we see him making mistakes, he seems more human & therefore we can really associate with him. (Plus I'd love to live in the...
You'd think after the first daughter got pregnant it might have dawned on her the sex education at the school wasn't up to much
Seriously though, talk about shirking parental responsibilities - I can not see how she actually expects people to say she (the mother) wasn't even slightly...
