I seem to remember from being half asleep on Friday morning that BBC Radio 4's Today programme ran a story claiming that an old law had been uncovered that would mean Camilla's son would become King after Charlie. It was supposed to be something about her son taking precedence over William...
The Heywood book is very much a textbook but, as you say, it covers quite a bit. One idea is that if you see a reference cited in it for a subject you find interesting, you could then try the referenced book. This is a bit hit and miss so you might want to try libraries rather than buying at...
I read Beloved and thought it was great. It haunted me for days afterwards. I keep meaning to get hold of more of her work - thanks for the recommendations.
Well, my main interest is the making of foreign policy and one of my favourite books is "Constructing National Interests: The United Statesw and the Cuban Missile Crisis" by Jutta Weldes (published by the University of Minnesota Press). Weldes offers a comparison and analysis of the Crisis from...

I saw this article as well. I laughed quite a bit at it, especially the section aimed at Woody Allen. I didn't get the feeling it was entirely serious but it will be interesting to see what letters they get as a result.
I saw Napoleon Dynamite recently and didn't have a clue what was going on. Maybe it's because I'm British and so didn't get the humour? I just thought it was odd.
I love that song "who will buy this wonderful morning" - I could watch that scene over and over. I thought I was the only saddo who liked the film - guess I'm in good company!
I've been having exactly the same problems Emily. This was one of my favourite books as a child but it became lost somewhere in the stages of growing up and I have been trying to replace it. Good luck with your search.
