i've definatly have. it was pretty much the main purpose behind the books we read in 10th grade. i really loved that class, it made me see other reasons to read lots and lots of books.
i think Pride and Prejudice is one of those books that you either love or hate. my sister hated it; she never finished it. me? i never tried to read it.
even though this thread is a little old, my favorite book the most recent summer was White Oleander. i also really liked Girl, Interrupted and Who Killed Kurt Cobain?.
hm modern literature eh?

the main problem i have with short stories is that i get attached to the characters, and then its over. i'm the type of person that feels lost in the beginning as the author introduces the setting/characters of a story
my knowledge in oliver twist does not go beyond a Wishbone episode. i would like to try reading it tho. shame the only copy we have of it is in one of those fancy leather-bound books. rather annoying to read
i understand how its a good idea.. basically tricking kids into reading. but for me it just distracted me from the story. its a reason why i never got past the first book when i was 13ish.
haha, it really is. i type almost as fast as i think, while i write a lot slower. plus i end up not wanting to go in detail in a handwritten journal due to lack of time and an aching hand/wrist
i have the shortest attention span when it comes to trying to learn how to play an instrument. plus i had the habit of not following the length of the notes at all
