Books with photos of the author

generally i dont like looking at the pictures since i do not want their face to conform into a character in the story. i just think about them more personally if i look at a picture. i dont want to think about the writer while i'm reading their work

Suggest just one book to read.

i loooooove this book. i have an illustrated version. my mom and sister read the polish version growing up, so i suppose my mom wanted to pass it along to me. i also love sheep, so the fact that there was sheep was a plus =P

Your favourite bookshop / place to buy books

i generally go to the book store that is in the mall i'm in. in NJ i always went to the huuuge barnes and noble 15 min away. two stories, beautiful inside. lots of recliners. i loved it. it was open till early hours of the morning or so too. we'd go there at around 11 to relax when my mom would...

What's wrong with the public library?

hm. over the years i've only taken out books so my mom saved money that way. i also got them a lot quicker from school since i wouldn't even go to a book store very often. my school library in middle school always had the new releases right away. that was back when i'd read those realistic...

What do you do with a book you've read?

i would not be able to throw a book away. you're so much better off donating it to a library. i generally just keep them on my shelf in my closet. i've never given books away

Alice Sebold: The Lovely Bones *spoilers*

i read it when i was 13 or 14. i actually started re-reading it yesterday but i think i'm gonna wait to continue it for a while. i really liked it even tho sometimes the transition between the years was sudden and understated. i recall being confused sometimes

    Oprah's new book club title . . .

the oprah book club label does make me notice tho. its why i bought The Poisonwood Bible and A Million Little Pieces. i read White Oleander w/out knowing that it had the label. i also read midwives b/c it had the label, and it was memorable even though a tad dry sometimes.

Mark Twain: Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn

i never got past an episode of Wishbone with that book. maybe i read a children's version, i do not recall. i think i have a copy of that somewhere, probably in one of those "5 books in one!" type of deals though. i dont like those at all, to big to hold

    Dan Brown - Under Oath?

i think with the da vinci code it was mainly word of mouth and just the fasinatation ppl had with the mixture of art and religion in there. even my MOTHER heard of that book, and she doesn't know anything about pop culture or current trends in anything

The Most overrated fiction book ever?

catcher in the rye, definatly. i loved it when i was 12. that should say something. i do appriciate it more after i read it for my english class, but its just overhyped. most of the typical classics are overhyped. we have english classes to thank for that i definatly agree with you on the...

What fiction book do you keep reading over and over?

lol me too... i still haven't finished reading the 4th book let alone read the 6th. i guess im waiting to forget about the spoilers i heard. i actually forgot the spoiler in 5th until my friend just said it one day. blaaahh. haha i couldn't even get past 20 pages or so. i dunno why.

    Paul Ruditis: Rainbow Party

i dont see why they should get riled up about it. my sister's bones had a pretty detailed description of how the girl gave one guy a blowjob. sex is just in books. writers write about life; sex is part of life.

    Jeffrey Eugenides: The Virgin Suicides

i actually saw the last hour or so of the movie w/out knowing it was a book. as soon as i found out it was a book, i went hunting for it. it took me a long time since we dont have a barnes and noble or a borders here, just a private book shop and a WaldensBooks (extension of borders though, i...

    Barbara Kingsolver: The Poisonwood Bible

i bought a copy summer 2003. i STILL haven't read it. which isn't exactly a bad thing since i was only 14 then. i'll be able to appriciate it a whole lot more when i get around to it. yeh, oprah books have a bad rep. i actually did notice this book, and A Million Little Pieces b/c of the...

    Elizabeth Kostova: The Historian

hm well i bought a copy at borders since it was 30% off. i'm gonna read it once i finish all my library books. i still dont really like the size of it, but i figured that a paperback version would be even more annoying. hm i think it might be. i might've heard that somewhere 56? oh man...
