I haven't read it myself, but I hear The Da Vinci Code is awesome.....
Sorry, Josh, bit of a joke. I would recommend trawling some of our threads here, the crime/mystery/thrillers section should provide a few new reads for you!
Interesting issue. SF, I completely agree that it is totally unneccesary for someone to own a high powered automatic weapon for hunting or 'defense' purposes. But then, I'm one of those lefty kooks who doesn't see the need for anyone to own a gun.
As for the mental health issue, I believe that...
Eyez, some of your points are very interesting, but if we are to take them seriously, they need to be backed up by links. Personally, I'd be very interested to see the source of this 'fact':
So if you could let us know.....
Ha, true. So what you're really saying is, any and all "I haven't read it yet, but..." recommendations should be permanently stricken from the forum? ;)
You heard it here first, people.
I'm receiving quite an education from the two of you today! From llama stapling, to the switchy-plate thing (going to test it right now!), to the value of forum-love, to the logistics of getting oneself elected the spiritual leader of BAR (all hail pope Freya).
Keep it up.
If that was the case, you can point them in that direction, but I would give them a website or something to look at as well i.e. Amazon reviews. If I haven't read the book, I'll say so, and thus that I cannot vouch for its quality.
I think the situation that Novella is referring to is when...
I agree. To my knowledge I haven't ever done this, it kind of defeats the purpose of a recommendation (i.e. being based on your personal opinion). I'm pretty sure this is how Dan Brown got on the bestseller list.
My last DVD buying trip was well over a month ago now (damn this studying caper!). Anyway, that day which now seems eons ago yielded Empire Records, Donnie Darko Director's Cut/Theatrical Release Pack, A Few Good Men, and Ricky Gervais Live: Politics.
With any luck (and a visit from the cash...
I am a PS freak, much to the chagrin of my mother and various uni mates. It could be my choice of genre, which is the apparently unfeminine shoot 'em up horror genre ( I also confess to marathons of Worms Armageddon, The Sims, and....Spyro the Dragon)
What are these horse games you speak of?
We're a lovely forgiving bunch here, so any little mishaps are of course forgiven.....unless you turn out to be a big, nasty troll, in which case you will be banished to the depths of cyberspace hell (one featuring a dancing president and that crazy frog music shudder)
Interesting article, SF. It's funny because the central character in The Tommyknockers has black-out phases of writing (for different reasons than King's).
I just remembered that Cujo is set in the Castle Rock Universe. I have to read it now.
SF, you're on a total King bender at the moment. Which can only be good.
(join me on the dark side.....)
I haven't actually read Cujo......the movie was scary!
Okay, I'm bumping this because it doesn't make sense anymore. So tell us about your latest avatars, people!
I'm always Lisa, the image has changed a few times. This current one I feel sums up my attitude to almost everything (suspicion and cynicism rock, dudes). Sometimes I think that Lisa's...
Good Friday. Picking up my brohter, then going up to Mum's for lunch. We're not religious (well, my brother is), so it's largely an excuse to eat hot cross buns and smoked cod (which I loooooove, I don't know what everyone else is going on about). I also have to do a psych test on my brother for...
