Mmmm...I'm inclined to agree with the doc. I've already lost interest in mine. I still think that others will use it for awhile though, and any attempt to add features to the site is great.
Is Eyezonme posting under a different name? Thems against the rules, bucko. :p
Back to your point (which is brilliantly vague, I must say) I don't see how partaking in intelligent debate with 'some religious guy' makes Dawkins an ass. And of course 'some religious guy' was feigning respect...
Not at all, I have a strange affection for dogs, too. Throw a human being off a bridge (in a movie, I mean!) and I'll say "Oh that was unfortunate". But when a dog makes a whimpering noise, I'm bawling into my popcorn.
Why 'regardless of their race'? Why not 'regardless of their shoe size, their hair colour, their IQ score, their football teams, their mother's occupation'?
I don't think you can polarise trusting strangers IN GENERAL into good and bad. Depends on the sitch, doesn't it?
Oh wow. This is gonna make me weep at ten a.m., but here goes:
POSSIBLE SPOILERS
The Colour Purple: what's not to cry about? The tears come first for Celie and her terrible exploitation and abuse at the hands of her father, then "Mister." Then we watch as her sister is sent away, and she is...
Oh, now I'm sad, although I do eat Quarter Pounders which I'm sure are killing me at an equal rate to your cigarettes, so...pot, kettle, you know how it goes.
There's no shame in Disney movies Val! They rock! Did I mention that I'm a five year-old trapped in a 22 year-old body?

As an atheist, I take offence at this statement. Is there a general consensus that being an atheist precludes one from any kind of moral virtue?
But that's a topic for the Mature Discussion board, methinks.
Oh, and er...I can't think of any atheist protagonists off the top of my head.
This is a linkto a site featuring some Australian authors. A few who I've read and enjoyed are Murray Bail, Peter Carey, Paul Jennings, and I love a good Henry Lawson story.
Well, I'm trying to write an essay on psychological assessment in multicultural Australia. Does anyone else hate word limits? They've given us 2000 words, and I can tell you now, I expecting about 3500. Sob! Anyway, the topic has turned out to be quite interesting, which is nice.
(I just...
Is it commercial promotion, though? I mean, we don't want any money from these people, we just wanna talk books!
I like the post-it idea, I think finding a handwritten note would elicit more curiosity and excitement than fidning a bookmark and assuming it had been mass-produced and stuck in...
Hmmm...coronary in a stationary shop, perhaps? ;)
Welcome, Fin. And don't worry. Some of us who speak English as our first language sound like jabbering fools on here.
Do you have any favourite authors?
Perhaps I should have said "I'm quite shocked that a subject as seemingly innocuous as the blog section could stir up such a debate." I'm all for debate (on the pro-side, if you will....)
I'm quite shocked at the debate that the blogs have stirred up. I agree that they won't add much to the forums, since they are a separate part of the site. You don't have to take part in the blogs, you don't have to read them, you can completely ignore them if you so desire. I have set one up...
