    Dark Fantasy

Regarding Newcomb's work, it's most defintely epic/high fantasy. Adult themes do not predicate an novel being categorized as Dark Fantasy. Martin's A Song of ICe and Fire work for instance has much more of the same themes (not to mention it's written infinitely better) and it would not be...

The Sword of Truth - Terry Goodkind

The genre defintely is recycled and that why it has the stigma atatched to itself, as many of it's best sellers happen to be the ones msot guilty of being derivative. I would not say the entire genre suffers from originality however. There are numerous authors (some of which who are IMHO the...

Wolves of the Calla 18CC HB BIN

Ah, I misread that, my apologies, my Pc is having severe display problems, I assumed a decimal, those certainly arent the eidtons I'm referring to at all. Although I have spent much, much more on some novels, I would certainly not pay anything near as much for these novel, I annot see how...

    Christian Fantasy and Science Fiction

If you enjoy CS Lewis, you would enjoy George Macdonald even more as he is even more over bearing.

Any new fantasy series out thats good?

Which makes him what? Just barely bearable?:) IMHO Modesti far surpasses Jordan, a statement that admittedly doesn't say much, but I stand by it:)

Wolves of the Calla 18CC HB BIN

I think I know I know what copies youir talking about as lorrekarlofftouches on, there are paperbacks that have been recently that come with illustrations (glossy) in them. Regarding the price, *shrugs*, I don't know, seems normal to me so I really can't comment. Regarding these additions...

The Sword of Truth - Terry Goodkind

I've always thougth The Sword of Truth was consistently one of the most overated series in fantasy. I just replied to a similar thread on another forum, so here it is: Regarding sales, and best seller charts, I simply don't use that to gauge how good any writer is, regardless of what genre...

J.R.R. Tolkien: The Lord Of The Rings

I'm a bit of Tolkien fan, Deerskin tocuhes on it, but here are specifics, so bear with me, the questions asked are very broad, and I will touch on them as best I can, if any more specific questions are asked please feel free: , The West signifies Valinor, home of the Ainur on...

George R. R. Martin: A Song Of Ice And Fire

From reading the Advanced Chapters of A Feast for Crows, I would say Arya is defintely going down an interesting road. I also want to read Oakheart's to get the Dorne perspective, and Tyrion is simply the best character in epic fantasy, and it looks like he is going to meet the young Griff!

Steven Erikson: Malazan Book of the Fallen

IMHO character driven novels are much more rarer than event driven novels. Mainly due to man yfanatsy author's choose no to write outside of popular archetypes. I find the majorit yof authros are what I call "map makers", they make a map and try to write a story in it creating a world of there...

Steven Erikson: Malazan Book of the Fallen
