    KJ Bishop Interview

Recently I conducted an interview with fantasy author of The Ethced City, Mrs. KJ Bishop. The Etched City is Mrs. Bishop's first novel and has garnered heavy critical acclaim, including by Michael Moorcock, and Jeff VanderMeer. The Etched City was nominee last year for The World Fantasy...

    Hard to find titles

The best way I have found is thru Bookfinder.com, I regualry purchase large amountn of first print fantasy and sci-fi novels weekly and they (none of the vendors assocaited with them) have never led me astray since I have been introduced to them, no matter how expensive or inexpensive the...

As I mentioned before, some more info on this fantastic series: Some good chocies listed, however i want to point out again that the Malazan series by Erikson is not limited to two novels (if you order online) these are available now: Gardens of the Moon Deadhouse Gates Memories of Ice...

George R. R. Martin: A Song Of Ice And Fire

I'm so jealous of others who are just starting to read Martin. It simply doesn't get better than that in epic fantasy so savor it:)

The most famous you've never read

Many people still group Sword/Sorcery with High, as well as High with Epic, But Epic really is works like Tolkien, Hobb, Martin, Donaldson, Williams Sword/Sorcery are novels stemming from Robert Howard/Leiber school, regarding Conan, and Lannkhmar. Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance are by in...

What do you do with a book you've read?

Depends on how one views there novels I guess, for instance, last year I bought a first print of Frank Herbert's Dune which costs several thousand dollars. Maintaining such novels conditon seems at the very least wise IMHO.

The most famous you've never read

Recently I just group them into specualtive fiction, as there really isn't enough upper level quality to denote them sepertely recently. The differences get skewed now by many authors like Mieville, Stephenson, Wright, Swainston, Malceod etc (many of which are among the best of the genre no...

The most famous you've never read

Well if I were to consider Moorcock great (which I do, he is one of the most influential writers in the genre's history), I don't consider Gemmell on nearly the same level. Moorcock is famous for his Elric and Corum novels but he as writen dozens upon dozens of fantsatic novel, including the...

How do you choose the book you'll read next ?

Well I have a list of authors that I buy when they release a book (perhaps 2 doen or so). I also keep an eye out on recomendations by credible reviewers (there is not a surplus of those either, the statment implies I also pay no mind to amazon reviews). Barring that I buy aquite a few boosk...

What do you do with a book you've read?

I keep every book I buy, love it or hate it, and take great care in there condition. The only time I will throw a book away is if gets blemished or scuffed (which is horrible because than I have to buy a new one). I don't loan anything out, in fact I hardly ever touch a novel again once I read...

George R. R. Martin: A Song Of Ice And Fire

Defintely agree. Tyrion is IMHO the best written character in epic fantasy.

TBF Top 100 Scifi List Discussion

Just a observation, Goodkind and Jordan, are on the voted list and there is no Peake, Moorcock, Lovecraft, or Dick. Even on current authors it's rather laughable that Jordan and Goodkind are on a list and China Mieville is not mentioned in. How many people participated in this?
