    Eberron

I read the first Eberron novel, by the setting creator Keith Baker, City of Towers, and it was absolutely terrible.

    Star Wars

I think Anderson is one of the the most pedestiran authors in the history of SF/F. :D

    Star Wars

In general terms, I think Starwars novels represent some of the most awfu SF books one can read, and even worse, it seems to be a tradiition. That, said there are some books I have found bearable, and some authors who have frequented the line that are really talented. The aforementioned...

    Viriconium by M. John Harrison

Seeing how the question was asked in June, it wouldn't have been in print then. :) No matter, what editiom, it's without question one of the 5 great sequences in SF/F history IMHO, when collected. Harrison is nothing less than one of the most talented writers in the business.

Whats better - Magician or Sword of Shannara?

This is a tough question, they are both incredibly awful on almost every level. If I had to choose I'd go with Feist but it's like picking whether to shoot myself in either my left or right..well you get the point.

    Recommendation on new fantasy book.

If you enjoy long series and epic fantasy 3 come to minds, George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, this seres features outstanding characterization, multiple POV's, and the msot subtle narrative full of surprises, and many potential fan debates and discussion of any series in the...

J.R.R. Tolkien: The Lord Of The Rings

the answer Radagast (or Aiwendil) is noted in Unfinished Tales here: "Indeed, of all the Istari, only one remained faithful, and he was the last-comer. For Radagast, the fourth, became enamoured of the many beasts and birds that dwelt in Middle-earth, and forsook Elves and Men, and spent...

is terry brooks ,or isaac asimov any good?

I'm not particularly a Asimov cheerleader, but think there is no questioning he is a quality SF writer. It jsut depends on what variety of SF one enjoys, I have always thought of myself as from the Philip K. Dick school of science fiction. I think Terry Brooks is a hack, and one of the...

    Dragons

Coincidently, today I just put up my review of a brand new book kicking of a brand new series centering around a dragon entitled His Majestys Dragon by Naomi Novik (called Temeraire in the UK) If interested, Check it out here . It also has a brief sumamry of other books with dragons - most...

i just found out about R.A salvator and terry goodkind

I agee with that thought completely, and not exclusively to Mr. Salvatore, whom I respect even if I don not enjoy his fiction as I used to. ...... Exactly. As clearly stated as when I said it the first time:) Thanks. To add to some of the titles Gollum mentions I would reccomend authors...

i just found out about R.A salvator and terry goodkind

I think the ebst first peson application I have read was Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun. i also ejoyed (even if flawed) Steph Swainston's The Year of Our War. A popula rfirst person author (and perhaps the one most risk free for a Tolkien fan) are the works by robin Hobb, starting with her...

i just found out about R.A salvator and terry goodkind

I think the implication that more thoughtful forms of writing are not read for fun is the most over abused element used when arguing the merits of a comparitvely simpler book with less ambition behind it creatively. People don't read literature beause they are trying to bore themselves to...

    I need Suggestions about...

I'm not trying to be flippant, but you should read the type of books you enjoy. If you could tell us/me what you have enjoyed in the past, I'm sure everyone will be glad to give some quality recommendations.

Need new suggestions... here's what I've read...

Don't confuse Scott with Terry Goodkind. Scott differs in that not only can he actually write, but he doesn't steal another author's beliefs as his own (like Goodkind does with Ayn Rand, in order to make him feel his books are something more than the fluff-fat fantasy that they are). Scott has...

Need new suggestions... here's what I've read...

You might as well continue with the series, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows. A Dance with Dragons comes next followed by two others. If you like them you may also want to look into R. Scot Bakker's Prince of Nothing trilogy, that consists of The Darkness that Comes...
