    Fyodor Dostoevsky

I read that a few times too! I understand it through existentialism. Kierkegaard talks about freedom. That you have to realize that you have absolute freedom of choice. That fact and thought can scare/overwhelm even the best of man. And in understanding just how much freedom you have, you...

    Fyodor Dostoevsky

Allright then! I see that we have read different books. I only pointed this out as the thought of killing the pawnbroker came out of poverty. I reckon that his sisters situation "helps him" in a way. Ok. That makes sense. I dont think the story of Marmeladov is just for nothing, I...

    Mikhail Bakhtin on Dostoevsky

Being a Dane, I have read some of Søren Aabye Kierkegaards work. He was a philosopher but also with a great knowledge of psychology and religion. He is know as the father of existentialism. He was born 1813, so he was born a little before Dostojevsky. When I first read Dostojevsky is was...

    Book nerd level

I also like the smell of books! and the feel of them and the look of them! :D -Only thing I dont like, is the price of them! I have another nerdy thing I tend to do. When I find an author I really like, I make it a project to read everything they have written, and I have caught myself...

What have you read in March?

Just finished "The body" by Hanif Kureishi. Great book with interesting thoughts about identity among other things. Reading the book, got me, once again, in touch with why I simply love reading his books. He is a sort of all rounder for me, meaning he has it all really. Humour, food for...

    Brokeback Mountain

I have heard that Heath Ledger played the roll as a "tight fit", which I certainly can see and I think thats what makes him brilliant. Just that tight fit shows how his character feels in the situation in the film. (Under pressure and trying to suppress his feelings towards the other guy).

    Politics And Religion

I agree! If a book or speech for that matter deals with the matter (politics and religion) then its hard to talk about it without getting into those aspects. In the Pinter speech, the talk could have been about freedom of speech/press, propaganda etc etc., as the speech it self had so many...
