I know there's two stephen king novels coming out soon that I can't wait to read, but other than that.. I guess I'm not sure what's all coming out. Whenever the next HP comes out will be good.
I haven't actually read this yet, but The Hot Zone by Richard Preston is non-fiction that's suppose to be extremely scary.
And I agree, the scariest stories seem to be those that are either non-fiction or can read like non-fiction. That's why I often find Michael Crichton's novels spooky...
Totally awesome idea, kookamoor! I don't think my library has these lists *yet* but I know they're working on some kind of reading list. If it's not like the kind you mentioned, I'll be sure to suggest the idea.
Yeah, I'm not the kind to ask a librarian questions either, but I know there are a lot of people that do. Also when I checked out books from a library the librarians would often comment on how good it was or something. I'd like to be able to do that too :)
Okay, so I need to hit the...
So I just got a job at the local library and I need to know what books someone working at a library absolutely must have already read. I'm talking about the books people question about most often, the books that people are most likely to ask "Is this good?" I need an answer for those who ask...
I wouldn't go with a classic, unless you're just really into that kind of thing. If you really wanna get hooked on horror read something by Stephen King. The Shining, Pet Sematary, It.. any of those would be great.
Really? Are you serious? Or is this a mean joke..
lol well if that's true it's fine I guess, though I'd think it'd be tricky to wrap everything up in such a short amount of pages. Maybe Harry will die in the end..
How many pages will book 7 be?
Any guesses on how long book 7 will be?
I'm thinkin' at least 1,000.. hopefully more. If it isn't super long, I think i'll be half-blood prince length.
Pretty much anything by Stephen King should keep you in love with horror for the rest of your life, but some other books I've enjoyed are:
Dean Koontz - Phantoms
Robert Bloch - Psycho (very psychological)
Donald E. Westlake - The Ax (not horror, but definately full of macabre elements)...
Not exactly. I will quote word-for-word what it says in my copy of On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
""These are the best books I've read over the last three or four years, the period during which I wrote The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Hearts in Atlantis, On Writing, and the...
I guess the only thing I've read that I would consider slightly romance is the short story "Brokeback Mountain" by Annie Proulx. It's in her collection of stories called "Close Range: Wyoming Stories" I'm sure your library has a copy.
I doubt all of her books suck, and even if you did think one did doesn't mean other people do too. Survivor - the book Stephen recommends, has got many good reviews at amazon.com...
I thought the tech stuff was good. I mean, I didn't understand half of it, but it made things seem way more realistic. Personally I thought it was an amazing, incredible, mind-blowing book that I love love love.
I've heard mixed reviews for Tabitha's novels. I think a lot of people enjoyed "Survivor" .. but I could be wrong. Anyway, whether it was crap or not I'm sure King was somehow touched/inspired/whatever by something his wife wrote.
Here's another list of books King gave good reviews for in...
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, as a lot of the books aren't horror, but it is a list of books that Stephen King mentions as being very good, inspiring, or somethinganother. The list was taken from the back of his book "On Writing".
01. Abrahams, Peter - A Perfect Crime...
