Slow back to comics as far as I am concerned these days:
Just finished
Batman Prodigal: Quite like the change of persons covering for Batman and Robin - Brings life to the superhero
Touched the Green Arrow: Quite good: Good schematic symbolic art - story of decaying hero quite attractive...
Seems interesting ... and an lternative I hadn't heard about so far to my classics in SF. I might try after difgging myself into Herbert's son's Butlerian Jihad now. ;)
Morry
Not speaking about art per se but rather life and literature and why we turn to art in order to deal with life and its mess around us.
It is still pretty unclear to me why I began to be interested in purely idealistic stuff - kinda refer to McCaffrey and her unrealistic and boring Dragons of...
Hi,
Not really what I meant.
I rather meant that most often each time there is an optimistic literature popping around some other development in *dystopian* ones generally attract a wider audience.
Let's think about LOTR and The Matrix for example. I am not sure that there is going to be a...
Hello all,
've been losing my www connection for a while.
Interesting and odd times we live... Two threads reactivated on Lord of the Rings ad the Guardian releasing reviews of the Matrix sequels to be released in May and November...
Hello Hollis,
Welcome on the board. You got on one of the right racks for comics/graphic novels by Crossgen I would say. I got a couple of them - very different: modern post-medieval ages of supersentients and 2020ish military nationalist dystopia - a time ago and really enjoyed art and story...
Hi Proloxic and Dawn,
Honestly I do not know.
Or perhaps better I no longer know. I used to love the series and tend to get bored with it.
I came to the series when I was looking for something similar to Vance's stuff which was partly inspired by celtic themes, and the covers (In Belgium...
Missed that bit. :( 've been caught up a same way with the story of Buddha by Bertolucci. Another movie with such a trick is Moulin Rouge, of which credits were so long, but very good music... and I did not miss them.
As for Daredevil, just beginning to touch the comic, a 'superhero' thing. ;)...
Looks like another conversation on this board....
What about the hero that evolves in an unpredictable way and of whic story made him 'change', 'hide'. 'disappear', not being 'coherent' with a superhero thing? Kevin Spacey in the 'Usual Suspects' and in 'Seven'? Matthew MacConaughey in...
Hello all,
all this business of real 'railtrack' life yannow....
I have perhaps been a bit harsch on the 'top-heavy hero faves'. Yet it is not far from my feelings.
Funny things with super heroes is that I barely know how to turn around it... here - in contrast with elsewhere. Each time...
Perhaps a bit short. Never read the comic for was scared of how dreadful the movie was and of taking on more of it. :D
Guess the comic is better though the 'muscle' embodiment makes me fear the worst of the initial source :( . Honestly did not know what to do with these big muscles everywhere...
Lies, Deerskin, Vicky -
Perhaps why this whole literature is interesting. What would be the interest of literature and comics if it was not to poke fun and stimulate imagination? Also, I have read somewhere that there was nothing less political and more revealing than good caricature as well...
Hi Deerskin,
It is quite dreadful indeed... with a significant loss of British 'innocence' in it, and a too 'singing' 'Bush' way of reading.
AS for 'Harry Grotter', there was a mistake indeed it was to be 'Barry Grotter' ;) , poking a bit of fun on what's getting very fashionable...which...
Hello Deerskin,
Wrong...:
There is another audioversion of Harry Grotter: An American one, dreadful... 'Hey, man, wanna make a bit of magic potion?'
Morry :o
Hello all, 've been busy.
Hello lies,
I am slightly surprised you have some trouble finding comics around in Belgium (I am from the place as well though from the deadly boring quiet southern part ;) ).
It might depend upon which kind you're after. Yet, in the style of more 'UK-US'...
