Hi there fellow Nabokovians - er pulling of teeth, puzzles, narrator(s), the 'Egg and We' - I don't know why I'm surprised we are, after all, living in the land of Nabokovia - the language, the culture - such a lot to explore. I'm off to do a little more exploring but I hope to meet with my...
Any artists out there - I'd love to see a picture of our Timofey. What an odd looking fellow. I'm already reminded of a character you'd expect to find in a Charles Dickens book.
Must dash, have been given the order to read, read, read - and I'd hate to disappoint you know who.:p
Pnin
Oh happy days.... The Book Fairy paid me a visit today and left a few surprises. Hehehe - Pnin and Ada were amongst them. And a visit to a bookstore too. What more could a gal wish for:D Now I'm on the hunt - must go don Sherlock Holmes hat and dust off my magnifying...
Hah, I see Ms Pontalba is teasing us all again;) Puzzle - what puzzle. Darn it, and I don't have a copy of Pnin yet:( Did you notice how she quietly slipped in the 'puzzle' to the discussion without giving anything away;)
Oh happy daaayssss, oh happy daaayssss.... Sorry couldn't resist singing.
As for no Nabokov - We can't put the blame on the s/h bookstore. Blame it on their discerning patrons who just cannot bring themselves to part with any of his books - they want to keep them all to themselves:(
Ah...
I've had this book on my ever expanding 'wish list' for a while now. Can't even remember where I came across it in the first place but it sounded intriguing enough for me to put it on my list. Hopefully it will be in my 'to be read' stack instead.
With reference to banding Nabokovian land to 'Russian Lit' - No disrespect but I'd never have thought to look up the wonderful threads. I read for the pure joy of reading and don't necessarily follow what's 'literary'. Had these threads appeared under 'Russian Lit' I would have...
Cor blimey - sorry just shaking out the ears. Someone's getting impatient:rolleyes: Er, we may have to look for that rehab centre sooner than we originally thought.
She's such a tease;) I wouldn't mind but she puts them in the most conspicuous space in the house - right by the chair where I sit and stare whilst sipping on a cup of tea:D
Resistence is futile
Sshh, don't let it get out... but I'm defintely stepping in the right direction - just little itty bitty baby steps. But I'm finding it difficult with each passing day not to leap up and grab all the Nabokov I can lay my hands on. And the temptation..... Ya see I have a friend whose...
I've worked with companies that took on students for their work experience. I was responsible for setting up the work programme. The local schools would have their students write to the company in question outlining their intesests. We always tried to make their experience as diverse and...
Predators on the prowl methinks.
And you Nabokovians are bloomin marvelous if a little on the nutty side (and I say that in the nicest possible way;) ) Although the man himself has proved to be a worthy topic for musing. Actual threads based around our beloved have around 2811 posts with...
