Sounds like we may be on to a winner - well the two of us anyway. Yoo hoo, where y'all at? What do you think? Is it to be Glory? Come out, come out wherever you are:)
Does that mean you're up for 'Glory'. Do you sit among the clouds with Pontalba and Peder in owning just about 'eveything' Nabokov:D
And please no Ada (right now) - you're so right our brains need a rest. A little relaxation not that Pnin wasn't relaxing.
I loved the scene with the squirrel. VN gave such a wonderful description of the event (naturally) that I could picture the scene with my mind's eye. We've got some playful and chatty squirrels around here so it made it even more believable;) And all I can say is at least this one didn't...
Have we decided which book we're all going to read together/discuss yet? I've got three that I've not read yet: Glory, Ada, Invitation to a Beheading. Of the three I'd prefer to go with 'Glory' next. I've only glanced through it quickly and it looks interesting enough. Not that the others...
Have you read any of Diana Gabaldon's novels - the Outlander series. The first of the series 'Outlander' back cover reads:
'The year is 1945, Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon - when she innocently touches a...
Er, omniescient being not very good at making oneself understood - too much time spent in the company of Pnin methinks. I meant, dear woman, beam me up and over to your place:D Since you have the kettle on and I've run out of teabags and my next consignment doesn't arrive for another 7...
Enough of the bowing, where are my gifts? Chocolates wrapped in gold foil are rather nice - I especially like chocolate filled with lemon or orange flavoured stuff.:D And please do mind your back (after all I am on omniscient being who cares).
I've got one word to say to you both (Peder and Pontalba):
RASBERRIES:p
Now do please behave cos I ain't got round to Ada yet.
Hahaha - just had a thought: Two 'P's in a pod
I can't pick up a new book (even second-hand) without gently fanning the pages and taking a sniff. And I keep a database of all the books I have but it's not an extensive one - mainly author, title, genre, date published, hard/softback. I also include books that I want to get too.
And I...
Oh boy(d), oh boy(d), oh boy(d) - VN the author and narrator - why, oh why can't they have the same knowledge. Omniscient indeed - and one that likes to tease.
Er, as if it wasn't bad enough that we're teased with a rub-down but now we get to drool over a cruller visually. And I polished off the last of the macademian nut and white chocolate cookies yesterday:mad: Must have a mad dash around the kitchen to see what I can find - otherwise I'm a...
PS: Is it coated in powdery white stuff - you know, sugar? Cos then it could be the same as a beignet. Which, by the way, go down a treat with a cup of hot strong black coffee.:D
