La fille sur le pont (The girl on the bridge)

I saw it not long ago. At the beginning my feelings for it were lukewarm but in the end it had won me over because of the mood. It's a beautiful movie but it's not very subtle in effects. Daniel Auteuil is a nice actor. I liked him very much in 'Sade'. He's very good at sardonic characters...

    Richard Matheson: I Am Legend

'The Omega Man' and 'I Am Legend' only have shallow similarities.

    Looking for violence!

Read The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks and the classic A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.

After The Flood - P.C. Jersild

I'm very fond of the genre and this is one of my favourite books. I like depressing endings since they can really leave some of the feelings you had when you read the book remaining long afterwards. Perhaps it's possible to experience this with happy endings as well but I'm happy with feel...

    Best book to movie?

Agreed. The humour was also darker in the book. Kubrick's adaptation of The Shining is a great horror flick but the second adaptation has more complex characters and a richer plot. The results are still not much to hang in the christmas tree. I'm quite fond of the original adaptation of...

Anyone here a fan of the Monkey Island games or.....

Perhaps it's just me but I feel that games were longer when you didn't have the aid of all the information internet. The temptation can be so strong, especially for games such as Monkey island or the Discworld games where the logic can be absurd. The friend that I played Full Throttle at many...

    Aggravating People

Hillbillies do not read books. Put them in concentration camps and have them sterilized.

    George Orwell: Nineteen Eighty-Four

Do you want to know how it ends?

Anyone here a fan of the Monkey Island games or.....

I liked the Monkey Island game that I played (I think it may have been the one about the curse of le Chuck or something similar) but I wasn't fanatical about it. Other Lucasarts point 'n' click games that I've liked are Maniac Mansion (which Day of the Tentacle is a sequel to) and Full...

    Childhood Ideas

I thought that I as a male had a female curse since I often had nosebleeds. One time I had been sleeping on my back and woke up with my eyesocket full of blood. I could barely open that eye.

    Dirty literary secret!

From what I've read "baise" literally means "kiss" but could also mean "****". The english title I've seen for the book has been "Rape me" which makes it a bit more edgy.

    psychiatric hospitals

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

    Deodorant or Antiperspirant?

That might be the reason why men have begun to shave their armpits as well. So that they don't have to suffer through the constant tickling. Though some males stay hairy and put on a brave face.

    Carnivals and circuses

I recommend 'Geek Love' by Katherine Dunn. It involves "freaks" that has been created by crude genetical engineering.

    Gollum's song

The track 'Erblicket die Töchter des Firmaments' / 'Beholding The Daughters Of The Firmament' by Burzum is something of an opposite to "Bilbo's song". Because of the references to immortality, darkness and a past life I'm guessing that it might be dedicated to Gollum. "Burzum" happens to be...

    Banned Books Week: Sep.24th-Oct.1st

There's not a whole lot of books that are banned by the government in western democracies. The few books that are seems to be nationalistic, racist, anti semitic etc. I've read something about that Canada have or at least have had a strict custums where the borders where guarded against...

    Fairy Tales..

I'm quite fond of the short story 'The Changeling' (Bortbytingen) by Selma Lagerlöf. It's about a troll that swaps her child for a human child.

    Reading projects

I also makes plans of reading everything by my favourite authors. Though I usually make sure too vary the reading order with different authors so as not to get tired of them that way. At the moment I've read all the fictionous books by Auster except for 'The Music of Chance'. When I come...

    dogme95

I like the anti glamour of dogma but I don't think that there's any artistic virtue in sticking to limitations. I'm quite satisfied with psuedo dogmas such as Von Trier's Kingdoms.
