    Barbarians at the Gate !

Barbarians at the gate is about KKR's LBO of RJR. It was the largest buyout ever at that time. KKR is an investment company that purchases all or most of a company and fixes them. I was an employee of Randall's Supermarket when they were bought out by KKR and then sold off to Safeway, and it...

I do not snore. I merely reverse howl while sleeping.

    Cutlery

It's an interesting mix really. What Ashlea described is considered proper etiquette and the purpose is to slow you down so you don't eat quickly. When someone chooses to not put down their knife between bites, but continues to cut with the dominant hand and hold the fork with the other, we...

    What's your occupation?

No warehouses, but I used to work in grocery. These days I work for the worlds largest insurance company, in the retirement division, making sure that people get their statements. Exciting stuff eh?

    Force yourself

The Silmarillion. Every time I read the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings, I pick up the Silmarillion again. Then put it right back down, take two excedrin and go to bed. :p I have to agree about the Counte of Monte Cristo. I truly treasure that book.

    HUGE CAT!!! omg!

Why Cats Paint, a completely different book, is hysterical. Oh, and Martin, I don't read this forum all the time. I occasionally get links from Ashlea, but I usually save it for a nice, long, all-at-once go about once a week. Really happy we found our cat again. I slept on the...

    Look what I bought!

The current mini is an English brand made in Germany by BMW using a Chrysler engine. Congrats on getting the original!!! On a side note, Ashlea hates racing stripes, but thinks bonnet stripes are cute. I think it's just because we don't use the word bonnet here. :D I'm curious. . ...

How many forums do you frequent?

Here and 2 VW forums. The Vortex is huge and has a lot of data, DIY's, FAQ's, and stuff for sale. Eurotechniks has become a lifestyle board for me since I know so many people and meet up with them so often. eurotechniks - moderator and heavy poster vwvortex - browser and VERY occasional...

    Someone reccomend me something

It's easy to throw out book names, but if I new a bit more about what you like and your reading level I could do a better job. I don't know the book you mentioned, so maybe a few more that you have read and liked? Not knowing those things there are still a few books that I would recommend for...

    HUGE CAT!!! omg!

They make my 18 lb. kitty look small.

    The Bourne Identity Movie

Went into the movie being annoyed that they remade what Chamberlain did so well. Chamberlain, as with so many of the movies he did (Three Musketeers), followed the story and made a good solid movie out of it. They didn't need to do that again, so I think they did a good job of taking the high...

Forgotten Book - Feline Type People

I love the Chanur series, but I don't think there is any telepathy. I have always thought that CJ Cherryh's writing style was one of the most unique in the SF Fantasy world, so I would give it a recommend too.

    The Spellsong Cycle

1983 Spellsinger - Alan Dean Foster One of my favorite series when I was younger. Much more fanciful than Modesitt, but more enrapturing too.

    Where? Wolf of Houston.

I had not heard that about blends before, but it does make sense. With my own experience, I have found anything Johnny Walker makes (other than the red) to be very enjoyable. I do know that the phenomenon described above for scotch, is true of wines. Before Robert Mondavi everyone sold...
